How to Clean Your Lungs After Quitting Smoking
Smoking causes two different kinds of permanent damage to your lungs:
•
. With
emphysema
, the small air sacs in the lungs, called alveoli, are destroyed, which decreases the lungs’ surface area. The lungs then aren’t able to exchange oxygen that your body needs.

Self help for Emphysema
My gp advised me that I have
Emphysema
and has referred me to a specialist. I am feeling truly awful. My GP will not give me any meds to help with my breathing difficulties or to clear the mucus in my throat.

Loosing weight and getting very thin!
I have Bronscheitiasis,
Emphysema
and Asthma. Diagnosed 2007. On various meds and inhalers. Now and then my weight would drop when I got worse. I looked up what I should be eating etc and have taken all that on board throughout the years.

New here
I was dx with mild
Emphysema
in '98 but got caught up in smoke from a forest fire in 2001 for a couple of weeks and that caused an exacerbation and now I have about 60% lung function. Still not to bad. I feel lucky as i know many who are much worse off.

according to my lung function test, she is sending me for a CT scan to check my lungs. I thought severe

Copd emphysema
So I had a sinus infection beginning of February After about a week I could feel the breathlessness creeping up on me, so decided to start my steroids, felt much better after 3 days but started to wheez and had a bit of phlegm, the more breathless I got the more wheezy I was, so decided to take antibiotics

Hyperinflation of lungs
Hi, I have (almost) been diagnosed with COPD -
emphysema
has been mentioned. This is the result of tightness in chest, increased breathlessness, and a chest xray which shows hyperinflation of the lungs . I also have a sore pain in the left side of my chest, and I have had this for a long time.

I have severe
emphysema
and this new triple medication inhaler has worked wonders! I don't get out of breath going upstairs anymore, whereas before I used to dread going up the stairs because I would be so breathless!

Copd emphysema update
Went to doctors on Monday because of increasing breathlessness. Had sinus infection beginning of Feb took prednisone and antibiotics. But had continuing breathlessness. Nurse practitioner checked my chest said it was clear, oxygen levels were 96/97. So she just said it takes a while for lungs to heal

Lung reduction.
I was referred for a CT scan which showed chronic
emphysema
& have been referred for either a lung reduction or Zephyr valves. Has anyone had either the zephyr valves or lung reduction? If so could you let me know if either helped, recovery time etc. I'm dreading either to be honest!

Too long away.
It did not go quite as smoothly as it should have done as I ended up in intensive care with surgical
emphysema
followed by pneumonia. I eventually came home after a month only to catch a severe chest infection after 2 weeks.

People of HealthUnlocked - COPD: Preparing for a Double Lung Transplant
With further investigation during my early 20s, I learned I had
emphysema
, a lung condition that causes shortness of breath, and bronchiectasis, a condition in which the lungs’ airways become damaged making it hard to clear mucus.

I have bronchiectasis, aspergillus and bullus
emphysema
. Being treated for COPD. What has asthma got to do with it? Fighting for breath is something I don't want to be reminded of especially after two lung collapses in 2018. It's badly thought out and looks unprofessional.
