The Wonders of Wythenshawe
The only possible downside is that said consultant believes i have severe
Emphysema
but wont be sure until he has had CT scan done(another bonus point)Also he believes my severe weight loss and lack of appetite could be a result of my over consumption of red wine?

To ashamed to see my doctor
They did the scope to look inside my lungs and I did have COPD
Emphysema
. I followed up with the pulmonary doctor 1 time and went in for a pulmonary function test, but I didn't do the CAT scan. Why? Because I still smoke. I've heard people say you can't quit unless you really want to.

A little good news for a change
I came here as I was being investigated for having COPD as I was told 7 years ago at 40 that I had
emphysema
in the top of my lungs and as I did not smoke at the time it was of no clinical concern and to go away and forget about it, till this year when my asthma (that I have had quite mildly all my life

COPD/ or emphysema
My question is this, How do they diagnosis COPD as opposed to
emphysema
? Do your numbers have to be extremely low, or do they do a lung scan.... or something else?? This question has been bothering me...my dad got a diagnosis of
emphysema
from an x-ray. I never could understand that.

Spirometry test
Joined last month when told I had moderate
emphysema
after a CT with contrast. Yesterday I had Spirometry test and nurse told me at the end that my lung function was at normal level which has rather confused me when I am struggling with going upstairs, shopping and even hanging washing out.

Emphysema from passive smoking
Hi I've just been told I have
emphysema
as a result of years of passive smoking as a child and young woman living with a family of chain smokers. I am frightened and angry. I have never smoked. Any advice would be much appreciated from anyone in a similar position.

Fit to fly test
I have mild
emphysema
so would I still need a 'fit to fly' test or certificate? it's only going to be a 3 or 4 hour flight and I feel I could cope with that so don't think it would be a problem. Does anybody know please. Thank you. Carol
