So annoying
As a longterm sufferer from
Emphysema
I find the need to keep stopping and resting to get my breath back (even after slight exertion), the most annoying thing. However, if I don't I have to rest for longer to get my sats. up. This really is a trying disease!

Lung Volume Reduction Surgery
The lung didn't re-inflate with a drain tube in place for over a week and a CT scan showed both lungs to be be damaged by
emphysema
, hence the lung not re-inflating.

Not for those easily grossed out ANY one know what this coughed up lung tissue is
Am sure its not emphysematous bullea or
emphysema
as all the holes are to close to each other. And if it was normal why is it not the bottom section of lung tissue sample same as top.

Noob with a question please
Hi, I am looking for some advice, brief history, I am 52 ( tomorrow) I was diagnosed as asthmatic and with mild to moderate
emphysema
in 2009 after giving up a 35 year heavy smoking habit in January 2007, I blamed the cough and breathing problems on everything BUT the smoking... as only smokers do!

I would love any advice that anyone could give me to ease my mind. I am a 42 year old female living in the U.S. (in Virginia).
I was just diagnosed with
emphysema
in the lower lobes of the lungs. Blood tests showed that there is no genetic factor involved, so the Pulmonologist is telling me that we don't know the cause of the
emphysema
(could be asthma, he said).

Emphysema/COPD sypmtoms such as cough/mucus, shortness of breath, and low 02.
These problems can be addressed by discontinuing alcohol which can cause alcohol related cardiomyopathy. This weakening of the heart whole drinking leads to fluid build-up in the lungs and elsewhere, this can cause a serious worsening of your condition.

My mum
My beautiful mum lost her battle with
emphysema
in the evening of 20th December. She died in my arms at home, where she wanted to be. Even though we knew she was really ill, we didn't expect her to go so quickly, she was ok the day before but so bad when she woke up on that Friday.
