Low carb diet - weight loss but catastrophically depressed.
Happy new year everyone. I decided to start a low carb diet on January 1st and in 7 days I have lost 6.5lbs which is exactly the result I had hoped for. Throughout the week I have felt myself becoming more and more physically depressed until today when it’s just catastrophic. This evening I decided

A question for anyone following a LCHF lifestyle
As anyone following my posts will see, I advocate a HCLF lifestyle which is in some ways the opposite of a LCHF where L=Low, C=Carb, H=High, F=Fat. One thing that is agreed from people following either lifestyle is to reduce processed foods. Many people find significant benefits to their health just

Santa Barbara Cobb Salad: Dinner 🍴🥗
Tonight, I had a very low carb high protein salad for dinner— the Santa Barbara Cobb Salad. It’s my third time having it. It has avocado with feta cheese lettuce, egg and grilled chicken chopped up. It has 14 carbs. for the entire salad.😀👍. Really filling and delicious!😀

Rapid Iron Depletion
Hi everyone, I'm wondering what can cause iron to drop quickly after infusions...? Blood loss has been ruled out. I have P. A. , Celiac Disease and chronic iron deficiency. I was severely anemic for years and had over a dozen infusions stretched out over 13mos in 2016-17. Those only got my hemoglobin

How did humans get to the top of the pile?
Thank you everyone who commented on my post around why people chose a low-carb high fat diet, and did they do so after a high-carb low-fat diet. Personally I could debate on just that thread for the next 10 years, and perhaps I will! However it occurs to me a hypothesis following on from that question

New Nephrologist!
If any of you remember, the first nephrologist I saw scared me to death. When I asked if diet would slow my progression of ckd and he coldly said nothing would help because my kidneys were shrinking, it was irreversible and progressive. I saw a younger nephrologist yesterday and even though he said

Selection of new papers - gluten and statin and selenomethionine effects on thyroid function included. Also effects on Vitamin D.
I came across the recent papers of this Polish group which may make for interesting reading. I myself will have to wade in and assimilate their meaning. Hope you find something in these of interest. 1. Krysiak R, Szkróbka W, Okopień B.

Potassium iodide pre surgery
So I have my op on Friday for TT. The hospital in London called me to ask if I could go to my doc to get a prescription for potassium iodide. I live in Somerset and my pharmacy can’t get hold of it. I’m told it helps with excessive blood flow during surgery. It makes me slightly nervous that this is

Feel like I'm falling apart...advice/suggestions (please)
Hello, I was diagnosed with mild crohn's in Dec 2016. As of the last few months, I have been experience issues with my crohn's. I am currently on Entocourt(?) which seems to not be working any more. The last few weeks have been even worse with constant pain issues in my stomach, diarrhea, and oral thrush

Gall Bladder Removal
Hi all. I have Hashi' s and PA. A recent Gastroscopy revealed stomach erosion and inflammation. I had my gallbladder removed several years ago and wondered if that had any effect on the acid balance in the stomach. Any information please.

Dr. said they will address this at my next testing in six

Rib pain Liver fibrosis.
Is it normal to feel pain around your rib cage when you lay down. I had a fibro scan months ago and the reading was 9.9 so fibrosis was evident. I’ve had an ultrasound scan on my abdomen a few weeks ago after being diagnosed with Polycythemia. I’m curious does anyone else on here have the two conditions
