Worried..please advise
I am 61 and gave up smoking over 10 years ago. I am a bit of a mess - Type 2 diabetes, Prinzmetals variant angina, sleep apnoea - I take a cocktail of pills daily and have to sleep (when I can, I suffer from insomnia as well!!) with a CPAP device. My problem is that I have been very tired and felt

Copd and Cpap machine
Hi all, would like to ask a question, if anyone with Copd has had bad reaction to partners cpap machine, as my husband uses one for his sleep apnea, and just wondered if there was any possibility it might harm me, the air coming out is cold which on nights like we've been having recently could be quite

I saw a Cardiologist this week. Seems I may have a complication due to another complication of PSP. I'd appreciate feedback.
For those who've been following my posts, some of this is old info; for the benefit of newer caretakers/persons with PSP, I'm going to briefly refer to the complication of PSP I was diagnosed with May of 2013. My Doc (a Neuro) surprised me with a referral for a sleep study. Sleep apnea was the furthest

Upset
I went out for two hours this afternoon, to a local carnival parade, in my new wheelchair. This is the second proper trip out and I have never felt so embarrassed in my life. People were constantly staring at me in the wheelchair and because I have to use a CPAP breathing machine also. I now don't want

Progress and help request
Hi everyone. I have been doing the programme for nearly 4 weeks now. I have lost 1.5 inches from waist and 3kg in weight. I have serious medical problems and can only exercise whilst using a CPAP breathing machine, or my airways will collapse. Can anyone give any advice on exercise ? I can't stand for

Can a TBM patient suddenly become extremely drowsy to the point of requiring mechanical ventilation?
My father, 71 years was admitted to the hospital on 6th June following extreme drowsiness to the point where he was unable to swallow water. On a blood test, it was found that his Sodium had dropped to 112 despite being on Tolvaptan daily, fluid restriction and oral salt intake (5 gm). He was also found

Feeling upset and confused
Today I went to the ENT specialist who has said he is almost certain I have sleep apnoea. I shall spend tonight wired up to machines to confirm then it's off to Oxford for a CPap machine. This has left me in a bit of a quandary because this doc says the symptoms that have been put down to APS could be

Partial Update
So I did that last sleep study with the PES (long story short, they put a tube up your nose, down your throat, and into your chest and inflate a balloon at the end of it to measure air pressure) and it didn't show UARS (upper airway restriction syndrome), but it did show obstructed sleep apnea. So I

Update
I saw the university specialist on friday. She wants to give me oxycontin. But first, she wants me to do another sleep study with esophageal pressure monitoring (*cringe*) to make sure I don't have sleep apnea. If I don't, medicine prescribed, no problem. If I do, she wants to put me on a cpap and then

Dont always assume its your thyroid
Hi, been hypothyroid for a couple of years now and have recently self medicated as despite being told frequently that i am adequately replaced i feel totally drained. However, like a dog with a bone i refused to give up and was given. A second referral, this time to a brillaint endo who really listened

CPap machine
I was diagnosed with COPD 5 years ago whilst still working and sleeping so badly I could hardly stay awake at my desk. I was given a CPap machine by the Brompton hospital and have never looked back really. Apparently my oxygen levels drop so low during the night that I keep waking up in a panic although

Some additions to the diagnosis. Anyone else?
I have been to get the results of my sleep study today and apparently I have sleep apnea and restless legs syndrome. Hmmm news to me! I had no idea, I slept through the whole thing! hahah. So I wondered how common these two are along with autoimmune arthritis diseases? Apparently they will review me
