Dad diagnosed with GBM grade 4
Hi, my dad was diagnosed with a glioblastoma about 4 weeks ago. He has gone from being a fairly healthy 58 year old man who travels around the UK and holidays a few times a year abroad to a man who sits on the sofa refusing to go out or do anything. He has got a healthy appetite but is eating way too

Being Mortal Book by Atul Gawande
I want to thank those folks who suggested I read "Being Mortal" especially chapters 5-8. We are meeting with my Dad's oncologist on July 5 and his palliative care doctor on July 8th and I plan to use a lot of what I read during this conversation. My father's pain has returned with a vengeance since June

Overcoming Pneumonia Susceptibility
I flunked my first docetaxel infusion in late 2022 and a week later developed pneumonia resulting in me carried by ambulance to the hospital. As I said in my bio, I was told that another six hours without intervention, I would have been lost. I spent four days there with "tank car" loads of vancomycin

Haemophilus influenzae
Has anyone been able to get immunised against haemophilus influenzae? I've just had a bad infection which has been hard to shake off and I don't want it again. I know there is a vaccine available for adults but my hospital seems never to have heard of it.

Buprenorphine patch and swimming
Dear Everyone, About 3 months ago, I started withdrawing from Neupro with the help of Buprenorphine. Buprenorphine is only available as a patch in Brasil where I live. I am now free of any dopamine agonist for over 2 months and continue to use Buprenorphine to effectively control my RLS. The quality

Dear all, Writing to ask if anyone may have an answer to this: My mum 76 years old who was very active and healthy, currently living in Chile deteriorated very quickly while I was visiting last Christmas 2023. Left body side weak so after an emergency visit to neurologist and imaging got discovered

Suspected Bechets - affecting me mentally & physically
Hello, So sorry for the long post! So my doctor believes I have Bechets and I am currently undergoing tests/waiting for results. I have suffered with horrendous mouth ulcers ever since I had glandular fever at the age of 19 (now 36), and after a couple of years back and forth to the doctors about it,

Buprenorphine
Hello, have many UK people found it easy or hard to get Buprenorphine px by GP to control pain from RLS? I have been withdrawing from Pramepexole and using only codeine however it is now not effective in controlling my pain. I have a GP appointment in a few days and was going to ask for Buprenorphine

IBS/Covid/Stress - Help!
Hi, I've just come across this forum and I'm hoping that you kind folks can give me a virtual hug and some kind words. To sum it up as briefly as possible, I am 48 and have had IBS for 28 years. Its always there in the background but I used to get serious flare ups that lasted for months if there was

Change in inhalers
I'm currently on sertide and being switched over to symbicort. I'm not sure of the dosage etc as need to discuss further with gp. I'm a little concerned as been on seretide for years. When I get switched it triggers flares and I've already had loads of time of work. I work part time. I also think I'm

My Cancer Journey Repost
It's time for a repost of my two-part cancer journey diary. Some "starting the journey readers" might find it helpful. Originally posted as two Health Unlocked "replies" - maybe I should make them an actual full "post". So I am pleased to report that
other than fatigue, I feel sort of normal right

dipyridamole
I’m going to try this next week when I get an Rx. Looking for any pointers from anyone who has had success with it. I gather that 225mg is a common dose for RLS (three 75mg pills). I intend to start with one pill and titrate up to three quickly if there are no issues. I’m currently using buprenorphine

Thrush but not a bird
I have been given the wrong dose of my inhaler for Asthma. Now have to use two puffs instead of one to obtain the same amount. Will this increase my sore throat and oral thrush burden ? It is something I struggle with. Nothing to be done until Monday. Any advice would be welcome.

My story
My beautiful sister in law has after a long journey been diagnosed with PSP initially a Parkinson diagnosis a year ago after many falls, but in February a consultant neurologist confirmed this awful disease. She is now at the Palliative care stage. It's heart breaking watching her decline.

I feel weird after taking meconerv forte and ginsomin. Is it advisable to continue combining them with ligaba?
I have been on ulcer drugs for years. My latest symptoms made my doctor place me on pariet, meconerv forte, ginsomin, melotamin and ligaba. I discovered that I feel very low mood after taking the drugs. Stomach, chaste, waist and back pains; insomnia, muscle twitching, tingling sensation, lethargy, fatigue

Buprenorphine...help with prescription please!!
Since my neurologist retired and I found a new one, my pharmacy is not accepting his order for the buprenorphine because he's saying it's for RLS and the pharmacy is saying something about it is for pain but since this new neurologist isn't a pain doctor, he said he can't prescribe it that way even though
