I have been given the wrong dose of my inhaler for Asthma. Now have to use two puffs instead of one to obtain the same amount. Will this increase my sore throat and oral thrush burden ? It is something I struggle with. Nothing to be done until Monday. Any advice would be welcome.

Thrush but not a bird
I always rinse my mouth very well after I’ve used my inhalers.
As Helen says rinsing your mouth really helps and should be done after every puff. Invest in a tongue brush. Also really helpful. Have you mentioned this to your doctor? They can treat thrush with an antifungal mouthwash, ointment or lozenge even tablets. I wish you well. xx 🌿
Remember to think about your whole system looking after your gut and bowel too by keeping up yoghurt or probiotics, not to mention a good healthy diet. Sometimes I have to have a short break from steroid inhalers due to this issue and loosing my voice. Eventually I have to return to budesinide, along with my regular spiriva.
Hi Dottie, I use Fostairs inhaler (2 puffs twice a day) and after advice from the lovely people on the forum I really rinse my mouth out and gargle several times (at least 4 times) after each puff (I use tepid water as I find it kinder in my mouth) and don't clean my teeth for at least half an hour afterwards. I find this helps keep thrush at bay with just the odd sore in my mouth. Doesn't cure the dry mouth or throat but seems to help with the thrush 🙂. Take care xxx
I used to suffer from thrush until I began rinsing using one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water after using the puffer. I’ve never had thrush since.
