Calcium Citrate (with vitamin d3) for IBS-D?
I have been struggling with my IBS of late. I am on a vary blan strickt diet which I have brought upon muself - mainly consisting of boiled potato and chicken. Even with my strickt diet, after dinner I always feel uncomfortable (that's the easiest way to explain it). So no matter what I eat, I feel as

Pet Worries
I thought I would post an update. I had an indwelling Pleural catheter about 4 weeks ago and the district nurses having been coming out most days to drain me. It has been hard getting the balance right between frequency of visits and volume. At first it seemed that as fast as the nurses were draining

Can I donate?
Hi everyone. My father started dialysis 2 weeks ago. He is on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. I still would like to ask whether I am able to donate my kidney to him. He says it wouldn't work because we share the same DNA.

Do You Know the Ins and Outs about Palliative Care?
A friend of mine wrote a blog post about Palliative Care that really tells you what it is (and isn't). One sentence in the blog clears up one misconception lots of people seem to have: Hospice is always palliative care, but palliative care is not always hospice. That's a very huge distinction!! https

Painful hands and wrists at night time
I have an underachieve thyroid. Well controlled so far. Recently I have been having very very painful hands and wrists, with the pain radiating up to my elbow on the right side. It doesn't stop me doing things in the daytime and doesn't hurt really in the daytime. The only thing is, for instance

How to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation? Reduce use of smart devices!
When the book written by palliative care nurse Bronnie Ware came about, she titled it Regrets of the Dying. This is powerful stuff. How much are you truly living your life? One of the top regrets was neglecting friendships. One of the key drivers I see of isolation is the wide use of mobile phones and

Be Encouraged
I’m writing to encourage anyone losing hope. As I write this, my dad has been hospitalized for 25 days, but he’s on the road to recovery from Legionnaire’s disease (legionella pneumonia). He had most of the pneumonia fatality factors - compromised immune system, over 50 yrs old, diabetic, transplant

TUMOUR HCC (cancer) No transplant. No treatment. I can’t accept this.
Hi everyone. Sorry I’m kind of posting about the same thing but I really need some help/advice. Mum had her follow-up cat scan yesterday and her tumour has grown to 7 cm and there are possibly one or two more. Her doctor is adamant she is not eligible for transplant. Her doctor doesn’t want to do any

Prostate Cancer and Bee Venom
Hi, there seems to be some "Buzz" regarding bee venom / Apitherapy "Bee"ing helpful in fighting prostate cancer. Has anybody ever tried (or read about) it in combination with ADT (Lupron and Zytiga). If so what can you tell me about it? Is it safe to use with ADT? Any side effects (I'm not allergic

So I’m doing this.....
This morning. It’s the marathon in Belfast today & I’m doing the 4.5 mile leg of the relay and I’ll be honest I’m nervous. I’m determined to run as much as possible as all the funds are going to the palliative care unit that took care of my big sister who passed away last August at only 45 years old
