15mg Prednisolone - scared of side effects
Hello I have been prescribed a 3 week course of Prednisolone (3 pills for 5 days, 2 pills for 5 days, 1 pill for 5 days) Has anyone had to do this and were there any side effects? To be honest I am petrified on taking these pills as I don't want to gain weight (I am active, sometimes not as much if I

Cortisone Inj in Dx of Fibromyalgia
Question- I'm currently in process of dx. Pain most of my life, more now as I age. Rheum gave me cortisone shots in my bottom as dx tool. Feeling much better. Is this common to have systemic relief this way. I'm curious as to why she gave me the shots as a diagnostic too. I don't fit the typical scenario

Cortisone injection
So I'm wondering what sort of response anyone has to extra-articular steroid injection. I had an acute bout of bursitis a few weeks back. I had an injection ( not in the joint) of depomedrol and lidocaine. I had so little change in my pain level that I went to ER. Toradol injection, naproxen and a sling

Ruxolitinib & GvHD
I've been on higher doses of cortisone the last month or so to get over a chronic GvHD in my liver, after initial improvement things have regressed, my consultant is seriously considering replacing the corticoid by Jakavi (Ruxolitinib). I'd never heard of Ruxo being used like this, anyone have any feedback

Polymyalgia Rheumatica - and Me
Hi this is my first post but I have read many of yours and really appreciate the wealth of information that's shared through this forum. It's so incredibly helpful considering how many people I have met (and many professionals) who are unaware of PMR. My story I am a full time carer to my middle-aged

Second time lucky - facet injections.
I'm new to this but I thought I'd let you know about my experience with facet joint injections. I had some in Feb 16 for the first time after years of back pain. Diagnosed as slipped disk but now only left with the disk membrane and facet degeneration L4/L5. I run a lot despite the pain but when I

Hi, I'm new on here, just wanted to say hello and ask for some advice. I've recently been diagnosed as having Undifferentiated/Seronegative Inflammatory Arthritis after becoming very unwell suddenly at the end of January (no symptoms at all before this ). Diagnosed with Costochondritis at this time.

Been recommended knee Synevectomy
After more than a year of cortisone shots and one arthroscopy, doc has suggested a knee Synevectomy. What is the recovery time? I am an active, healthy 62 year old. Or I should specify I WAS active. Doc has been draining 60 cc's of fluid from my knee weekly. He's done extensive bloodwork which is negative

Three hours for a hospital appointment
And I'm not complaining. I had a lovely registrar who listened to me , asked sensible questions and then after looking at me X-rays suggested a few treatments to try before taking the giant step of a shoulder replacement. So now it's more nerve tests to be done at Preston to check for trapped nerves

GCA - tapering Pred?
In May 2015 I came off my cortisone treatment after having had PMR and GCA for 2 years and 7 months. CRP and ESR immediately began to rise. Stiffness, sustained dry cough, temple tensions and jaw pain indicated continued inflammation, but I couldn't bring myself to accept this. In January a
