How cortisone/pred works - a new study reports on a potential target to replace steroids
I thought you'd be interested in this article about a study from Germany which has worked out how pred works - and knowing that is the basis for developing other drugs to replace it. https://www.news-medical.net/news/20240410/Study-unlocks-how-cortisone-activates-the-bodye28099s-natural-e2809cbrakese2809d-on-inflammation.aspx

cortisone shot while on prednisone
Now slow tapering from 3.5 to 3 of prednisone and my left hip is starting to have discomfort. (Actually a noted issue for me over the last 5years) X-rays show some minor arthritis and orthopedic doctor suggests guided cortisone shot. He said it shouldn’t impact my prednisone tapering since it’s very

strange reaction to my Prednisone after all these years. Highly agitated!!!
hello everyone thank you for helping me recently with the issues I’m having with pain in my ankles and in my feet I have settled on taking 5 mg of prednisone which is an increase from where I had been down to 1 mg in the spring and summer so it has been hard for me to go higher because of stomach issues

Recap on Intense pain post
I’ve had a CT in Fall of 2019 indicating a couple of bulging discs. Spinal stenosis, s curve scoliosis. I’ve tried chiropractic treatments as well as acupuncture, acupressure and meditate several times a day. I’ve been cautioned by my primary care physician who has a DO ( osteopathic medical degree).

Does physiotherapy help?
So I've had a pretty "hard" manual lifestyle and have arthritis in both shoulders, already had cortisone injections in both shoulders, so that tells me I have worn out my joints, also to throw into the mix I've now got chronic back ache, and my left hip is "twinging " I can't sleep with my back properly

How can I tell when adrenals are coming back?
This line from DL's editing of a crucial post in the FAQ is cheering: . "In almost every patient the adrenal gland starts functioning again when cortisone is tapered, it just needs time." Got it. But are there symptoms that suggest the glands are waking up? After 15 months I am at 5.5mg of prednisone

I have posted previously that I was down with viral infection 25 days ago. Fever, cough and then I started feeling pressure on my left lung at a specific place as if something was blocked and crazy shortness of breath. I am an anxiety and panic patient so everything exacerbated for me. I was diagnosed

itchy, itchy skin?
hi everyone, I know skin can get dry and itchy in winter - but my husband seems exceptionally itchy (mainly arms and legs, a bit on his back too) to the point that he is starting to have tiny scabs. Yes, not pleasant to write (or read) about! The itchy areas have small but visible bumps. He’s not one

TSH rising inexplicably
Hi, I haven’t posted for years because things had been as stable as they could be for someone with ME, but in the last year my TSH has gone from suppressed on T3 only therapy to high ‘normal’ to just over ‘normal’ to my latest blood of TSH 7.86. Sorry this is a long post I am a complicated case.

The Plot Thickens…
I posted a few days ago about shoulder pain. It has got worse and is in both shoulders and is affecting my neck. It is far worse in the morning. My Osteopath gave me a private doctor’s contact details so I could see them for a cortisone injection. I had the appointment this morning and it turned out
