15mg Prednisolone - scared of side effects

Hello

I have been prescribed a 3 week course of Prednisolone (3 pills for 5 days, 2 pills for 5 days, 1 pill for 5 days) Has anyone had to do this and were there any side effects?

To be honest I am petrified on taking these pills as I don't want to gain weight (I am active, sometimes not as much if I am having a bad flare, but I go swimming and weight training as much as 4 times a week as I find it does help plus I watch what I eat) Plus reading the other side effects its quite concerning.

My Rheumy thinks I have Psoriatic Arthritis. My bloods do not show inflammation but the MRI's and Ultrasounds a significant amount of inflammation and damage around my joints.

At 36 they will not consider giving my joint replacements until I am least 40 so having the cortisone injections and now these steroids they are trying to keep me going.

I am currently on 2 Hydrochloriquine pills a day and 4 sulfasalazine pills a day. My white blood cell count has dropped quite a bit so he will not up the dosage of the sulfasalazine. My next appointment is in November and he will then decide whether or not to change my medication to methotrexate

Any advice would be very much appreciate

Hi I was dx with psoriatic arthritis in May of last year I also have OA and COPD. I take sulfasalazine 4 tab a day and Leflunomide 2 a day. My hands are the worst. I try to move around as much as I can. I try to go for a walk every day. I also have things to help me. I am waiting for a walking stick. I have an appointment with the rheumy nurse in October. And my next appointment with the consultant is not until next July that will be 18 months since I saw him last . But I should get another appointment with the rheumy nurse before that. I also take cocodamol for the pain.

Hello, a 3 week period on pred is not that long. Your doctor just wants your condition to settle down.
