VELTASSA The Only Option?
My husband has 3rd Stage Kidney Disease. His nephrologist said there was a way to assure he'd never need dialysis. First he needed to drink a substance called Veltassa. He can't tolerate it. Are there options?

Yesterday, I had a procedure done at the hospital to get my dialysis catheter placed. I start nocturnal dialysis tomorrow. My nephrologist was adamant that I not wait any longer to start dialysis because my creatinine is very high (I've been stage 5 for two years). The vascular surgeon who my nephrologist

RA Nice Guidelines re Covid 19
Hi. Sorry I can’t put a link on. I’m not that technical. But on the Guardians news website it says NICE will be issuing guidelines soon re RA and Covid 19. They’ve already done it for cancer patients and those on kidney dialysis. Sorry no further information in the article

CPAP - for life
Hi, I'm Christina (Chris), I've had sleep apnoea since 2006 , was discovered when I had to transfer to a new respiratory consultant in Birmingham (I live in Gloucester area). Spent a day up there having multiple tests & was diagnosed with it. Was then transferred back to local hospital to get a machine

Incremental dialysis?
I'll be starting nocturnal dialysis soon. However, I found a medical article which talks about "incremental dialysis". The idea is that dialysis is phased in gradually rather than immediately going three times a week. I'll put a link to the article below, but an wondering if anyone is familiar with this

Patient-Driven Innovation for PD Home Therapy
Greetings all. I am a PD patient. I had started out with a CVC when I first learned of my kidney failure requiring dialysis. As a PD patient, I find the process to be quite archaic and would like to lead the charge in patient-driven innovation for PD Home Therapy. Most all of us know by now what the

Masking for covid19
I have cold. I started with hemodialysis and now use PD. I am having anxiety with this coronavirus. I have avoided physical contact outside my immediate family. In fact, my dialysis is at home. What do we know for sure? Will a mask be enough for us?

Week 1
Hi everyone I am new to this so please be gentle with me. I’ve decided to get my backside of the couch and get moving. I am on Dialysis and awaiting a kidney transplant. It has taken me months to have the courage to go out the house and start the couch to 5k as I am embarrassed as I am very overweight

Understanding work colleagues
Over a year ago I posted about my work colleague and his understanding or lack of understanding about my lupus and what I was going through. The constant little jokes about being sick again, catching every bug going, having to take time off etc etc. Said person has now left my work to take up a position

ITS BEEN A WHILE
I haven't been here in a while, dealing with extreme fatigue, I was being tested for everything and reason. The last test I did was a sleep test which came back saying I had mild sleep apnea, I still haven't spoken to my doctor about the result. I had an appointment with my Nephrologist yesterday,

I am concerned about latest PM announcement
Developed Under active thyroid in 2005 then I fell ill in 2007 which tumbled into 2008 and unable to work with no diagnosis. I had an adrenal crisis which put me in hospital for a month in an induced coma, I was lucky to survive. Then I was ok for a while when I became seriously ill and landed in hospital

Worrying times
So at last this useless government have told us what illnesses come under the under lying health problems list. Already knew that we'd be at risk due to the lupus but throw in the CKD and dialysis too. I'm going into work this morning on a later train so I can speak to my boss and see what's happening

Always afraid since I started dialysis
I been doing hemodialysis for 1 1/2 year now, I’m still afraid and depressed ever since. I’m also started menopause, I’m 51 and having hot flushes all the time. It makes my bp shoot up everytime I have hot flushes. I’m on antidepressants and I feel like I’m all alone. I can’t ask no more from my husband
