Worrying times

So at last this useless government have told us what illnesses come under the under lying health problems list. Already knew that we'd be at risk due to the lupus but throw in the CKD and dialysis too. I'm going into work this morning on a later train so I can speak to my boss and see what's happening and what my company are saying too. How is everyone else coping and dealing with it.

Kitman,

I read something a few days ago that dialysis patients were dependent on China to keep to be able to support the process or the machines running or something.

You are probably someone who needs to self isolate now. Don't take risks as hospitals will have to be redeploying staff.

It won't be as straightforward to get assistance if it is required.

Take care

Didn't actually think about the dialysis situation, thanks for bringing that to my attention

why dont you phone your boss and see if you can work from home, until you have to isolate anyway?

I would've but left my laptop at work yesterday, the train and walk to work yesterday was like a scene out of a movie after a major disaster and everyone is in hiding.

Hi Kitman1,

Sorry if I’m being silly but could you tell me where you found this list please? The one I saw didn’t specifically mention Lupus. Suspect I will need to let my boss see this to prove I should be at home. I did see the Irish government had included it in theirs though.

Thank you and stay safe. 🙂

gov.uk/government/publicati...

It doesn't actually say lupus but the immunosuppressive part with steroids etc describes it and Lupus uk also say it, just waiting on an update from lupus uk as well they say

I've just phoned the secretary of my rheumatologist for an update as the list is stating people who have been advised to get the flu vaccine should self isolate. I presently take hydroxychloroquine, been advised to get the flu/pneumococcal jabs and I'm also seen by the respiratory department, so I'll see what information/advice I'm given.

Let's know how you get on if you don't mind

Hi, just received a call back stating I've to follow the official guidelines, nothing more specific. NHS will also be sending letters out from March 23rd to those who will be at particularly high risk of contacting the virus

in reply to CarolMcl

Suppose that's all we can do just now, working from home rest of the week now and will take it day by day.

Yes, it's a difficult one. I work with a patient in the community 2 or 3 times a week. I'll only be leaving my house to drive to hers so no contact from anyone else. Until I'm told otherwise, I'll continue to do this then the remainder of time will be spent isolating. Just hope I'm doing the right thing

I pulled my children out of school the school were very understanding and thought it was a sensible idea, my husband stocked up last week a day before people started panic buying so were ready to social distance and self isolate.

My husband is a self employed window cleaner so he can minimize contact with customers and disinfect money.

If I show any signs of covid19 I will stop all lupus meds and let my immune system run riot against this thing, just try and stay safe everyone and try not to worry.....stay strong and stay positive...we have a super immune system let's hope it kills the virus quickly if we get it without it attacking us🙏🤝👍
