Phyllocontin Withdrawal. / Uniphyllin Continus

Good afternoon all. This is my first post so apologies if it is inappropriately placed.

Does anyone know ?

Why Phyllocontin was withdrawn ? I have only heard 'no longer commercially available' but would like to know more.

Whether there is any research available on the impact of the withdrawal of Phyllocontin and its replacement with Uniphyllin Continus.

If you know or are able to point me to a source of information it would be greatly appreciated.

very best wishes

Adrian

Hi and welcome. I didn't take phyllocontin but this issue was raised a while ago on, I think, the Asthma UK forum too. The only reason ever given to the best of my knowledge was 'commercial reasons'. I realise that this isn't much help to you but various Hospital Trusts have given advice with regard to alternative meds but no other reason for the discontinuation. If you look to the right hand side of your post you will see other related posts that you may find helpful to refer to.

😄 Hello. Thanks very much for that. Yes, the same line seems to be coming out re 'commercial reasons' but not sure whose these commercial reasons belong to!. Will take your advice and check out related posts/asthma forum.. Thanks againAdrian

My guess would be the drug company who used to manufacture it.
