Some Kidney Humor
The old patient went to the Nephrologist for a follow-up and to receive his test results to see if he is in Kidney Failure. The doctor said, "I have bad news. You are in Kidney Failure, and you also seem to have Alzheimer's." The old guy interrupted the doctor and said, "Well, at least I don't have Kidney

My partner was admitted to ICU on 28th September with severe Covid. He was then intubated and put on full ventilator on 3rd october. I am struggling with the whole situation as he has other complications and the Hospital have advised they are very worried he wont survive but taking things day by day.

Discussion: Vascular Calcification / bone disorder in CKD
Mortality in CKD is dominated by the cardiovascular domain. We will more likely die of a cardio related issue than anything else. We are the highest risk group of all groups for cardio related death. Death for cardio reasons is more likely than our progressing to end stages of the disease: "Expressed

Should I do only kidney or pancreas as well?
I have been listed recently in august for kidney and pancreas transplant. I am type 2 diabetic and not on dialysis yet. I was not aware if my transplant doctor would list me for pancreas. I am not sure if I should go for pancreas transplant or keep only kidney. Having both increases risk? Any advise

Hair Loss
Hi everyone, I have been on dialysis for 9 months. I am on the registry for a liver and kidney transplant. Along with other symptoms that so many of us suffer from, it is devastating that I have lost half of my hair : (( This started about 6 months into dialysis. Thyroid issues have been ruled out

Re learning to use CPAP
I was using a full face CPAP, took me a while to get used to it, several months when I was diagnosed with poly myalgia rheumatica PMR, which affected my shoulders and for about 6 weeks I couldn't use my mask. Now that's under control I am having problems re learning how to use my mask and I just can't

Bad breath and taste
Hi! I'm stage 4, GFR 20-24, BUN 34. About 2 weeks ago I started getting the ammonia breath I've heard about and my mouth always has a bad taste...almost rotten taste like garbage. My tongue even burns a bit. My dentist says my teeth are fine. My neph says I shouldn't have this until stage 5, but I

Bio-artificial kidney
Hello everyone I hope you're doing good. 😊 Do you think this permanent cure (bio-artificial kidney) is possible anytime soon? It's supposed to replace dialysis and even kidney transplant. I know the concept has been around for a few years now and didn't get anywhere for various reasons, but it seems
