Oxygen therapy
I have been referred for this and told I would get a visit at home. Just had first chest infection and inpatient stay, 3 days. Antibiotics worked super well, plus excellent ambulance crew. What is involved with oxygen at home, is it a small mobile cylinder? Do I take it everywhere. How does it work

Seeking advice and comfort, please help.
Hello, I’m a girlfriend to my boyfriend who is stage 4. And a step mom to his 11 year old daughter who is my own. My boyfriend was born with one kidney; took care of himself and now we are at the point where he needs dialysis. He’s already on the transplant list. It gets hard knowing how tired he is

AF triggered by sleep apnea
Hello - My first post! Question to others here experiencing paroxysmal AF, has the use of a CPAP for sleep apnea been enough to stop triggering your AF episodes? My cardiologist thinks sleep apnea is the trigger for me (sleep study confirmed I have mild apnea). It's been a long journey to this

turned down transplant
Hi there comrades, My husband (age 56) just turned down ‘ the call’ and I am , we are absolutely shaken by the decision even though we spoke about it before I did not think he would really carry it through. He lived through 2 very complicated & traumatic transplants that didn’t necessarily give him

My neurologist decided to take me off mirapex. This is a new neurologist since mine retired. She specializes in sleep problems. I also have sleep apnea. I dont know why she decided to take me off mirapex. When she told me I was in a state of shock. I also take oxycodone. She is taking me off

Update on beginning home dialysis
Hi everyone, I just wanted to update everyone on what eventually happened with the home dialysis. I thank you all for your advice. I began the peritoneal dialysis last week. The nurse was very thorough, patient, and answered all my questions. By the end of a couple of days, I was able to do a manual

Stage 5 renal failure plus dialysis and cirrhosis of the liver
Wondering if anyone else in the world is dealing with these two together. My husband is, and we're scared. We're hopeful, but doctors don't know how this happened other than being diabetic for decades. Never a drop of alcohol, but a heavy meat eater. Diabetes is in control, A1C too, but hemodialysis

Possible Anoxic Brain Injury
hello, my dad suffered a cardiac arrest which he was down for ~25 min before they brought him back. I know there is possible ABI and he was put on a ventilator and medically induced coma. He has been off sedation since 6:15am (April 12, 2024) and opening his eyes. There is some tracking and he does look

Back home from hospital
Got released Thursday after dialysis and back home by 530 pm. Took forever to get the discharge paperwork, get the IV out and the supplies to change my dressing. I have several follow up appointments and new meds. I med to gain 10-15 pounds and get my strength back. For the most part my labs are good

Looking for feedback regarding Asymptomatic Afib
I'm fairly new to this forum and I already feel at home. It's very refreshing to find an online community whose members are so kind, understanding and generous. By way of introduction, I'm a 69-year-old male living in Connecticut. My Afib history is as follows: Diagnosed with Afib by PCP - 8/9/

Amino Acids-Protein Hydrolysate - the generic form of Pro-Stat RC.
Does anyone on Dialysis use Amino Acids-Protein Hydrolysate, the generic form of Pro-Stat RC? If so, how does it taste. I've tried LiquaCel and it's just nasty.

Getting No Help and feeling desperate

Digestive symptoms post dialysis
my husband has been on center hemodialysis for about a year and a half. None of the medical staff seem to be able to understand or help with the extreme throat/esophageal discomfort he feels for close to 24 hours following dialysis., with no appetite. I wondered if anyone else has experienced this. He

Worried about withdrawing from DHC Continus
Due to a spinal injury some 20+ yrs ago, I was put on Dihydrocodeine Continus, 60mg tabs 3 times a day. GP has just been reissuing the prescription for the last 20 odd yrs without really discussing these meds with me, or about changing for another drug. Now after 20yrs they just suddenly stop the prescription

Dialysis, what are the cons?
I'm a way off from having to have dialysis but am wondering about the cons of it. I know the pros but would like to hear from dialysis patients what it's like, the cons, the diet, labs, etc. Not really sure but I have a feeling that it's not as cozy or as simple as it looks to be. Also, maybe from
