Stage 5 renal failure plus dialysis and cirrhosis of the liver

Wondering if anyone else in the world is dealing with these two together. My husband is, and we're scared. We're hopeful, but doctors don't know how this happened other than being diabetic for decades. Never a drop of alcohol, but a heavy meat eater. Diabetes is in control, A1C too, but hemodialysis 3 times per week.

Thanks for any help and dietary suggestions. Feeling lost.

Hi, I have 2 diabetic kids (now adults) and renal failure is my biggest fear for them. Having both renal and kidneys going together must be scary. I’m not a medic so take this with a big pinch of salt and ask the doctors, but could it be autoimmune? T1 diabetes is autoimmune and you can be more likely to have other autoimmune diseases if you’ve already got one. If so, it may be treatable. Hang in there - we all know the testing and waiting is horrible. And look after yourself while you’re looking after him.
