Finished Provenge treatment
I had the third and last re-infusion on Monday. My port is being removed today. I'm part of a clinical trial, and if I'm in the arm that gets a 4th dose (the other arm gets no additional treatments), that will happen in 20 weeks. The only side effects worth noting happened after my second re-infusion

Follow up on the IFN types, Options
I noted in that post a thought of using a non pegylated IFN as a temporary measure as Pegasys becomes unavailable. It may not be so out-of-the-box thinking. This reference shows its use, and provides a dose schedule and relative dosing vs PEG. If you are out of viable options, (cannot access Bes or

AF Ablation Works…But: The Positive SHAM-PVI Trial
I recently read an article with the above title by John M Mandrola which I am sure that some others have already read. It discusses the efficacy of ablation and the results of a recently published study which compared ablation for AF versus a sham procedure. I quote:- [i]Why We Needed a Placebo- Controlled

The Day I Raced My Palliative Care Nurse
I’m coming off the mountain top! What an incredible experience and I’m sure Nurse Sarah (not her real name) feels the same! I was smiling and laughing all the way home from my hospital! So much fun! I can only say in my life that my wife’s birth to our daughters surpasses this. The only thing that

Update on trametinib (Mekinist) for low grade serous ovarian cancer
Trametinib is not currently licenced for LGSOC but it has been available through
clinical
trials
and as part of the Cancer Drugs Fund. We welcome NHS England’s decision to recognise the potential benefit for those diagnosed with LGSOC and offer a further routine treatment choice for this group.

Vitamin D and Dementia

to confirm whether this is really the case.
