NHS not working in Devon
Really fed up with the NHS right now. First they tell me my BP is slightly high so put me on tablets second they tell me I have raised blood sugar by 1 point so at risk of type 2 diabetes. Since April I haven't been able to exercise due to back and leg pain. I have been referred to our local hospital

Metformin is the First line drug for Type 2 Diabetes. It is in use for the last more than 50 years and there is hardly any adverse side effects if taken in recommended dosage. While a lot of research is still on to find out the exact mechanism of working , in the process science keeps finding out many

Hypothyroidism and post-birth control syndrome
Hi everyone, I have recently come off the pill (about 4 months ago) and have been experiencing terrible cystic acne and hair loss. I also have hypothyroidism and it's been 2 years of readjusting my dose and never getting it right. I always have had swollen lymph nodes which have persisted for years

How cholesterol varies among us
There has been quite a lot of discussion about cholesterol recently. Sometimes it looks as if anyone who is hypothyroid will have high cholesterol (however measured). Also, that this high cholesterol will remain high in many of us. Thought I’d point out that it is perfectly possible to have low cholesterol

Any one looked at South Asian BMI chart? What is your understanding?
What is the relationship between South Asian BMI and type 2 diabetes? Type 2 diabetes "Is it over weight or genetic?" "How do we find this out?" Blood sugar testing and 14/10 fasting
What is the best time of day to test blood sugars? And does 14/10 intermittent fasting work for diabetics? Does this affect blood sugars for example?

Anyone trying Low carb high fat?
Hello all! I’m not sure I’m really doing the right thing? I’m avoiding carbs.. bread, potatoes, rice, pasta. Replacing with salad, roast veg, spiralizing courgettes.. I’ve even tried the cauliflower rice trick... but seem to be eating lots of meat and fatty stuff. Home made scotch eggs etc. Not hungry

Vitamin C could help older adults retain muscle mass – new research.
As we get older, our skeletal muscle mass, strength and power to move gradually decline, which may lead to a condition called sarcopenia. First runiversary.
I haven’t posted on this forum for awhile but I have been lurking. It was one year today that I began my journey into C25k with 30 second runs space by 90 second walks. At the end of my first session I did not believe that I would be able to complete the programme. I began reading the inspiring posts

Hi everyone on this site, I'd like to introduce myself and ask for your opinion. I'v had Type1 Diabetes over 40 years now and Graves diagnosis in 2006 (in remission after 18 months treatment with Carbimazole), so I was told that I must have predisposition to other autoimmune conditions and I should look
