How strict are you on low-carbs?
I’m trying to bring my A1c back to 5.6. My last test in April showed 5.7. It had always been 5.6 since diagnosed with PMR/GCA in January 2019. I Started on 40 mg of pred, now at 10. I had gotten somewhat off track after Christmas. I’ve read that 40- 50 grams of carbs a day is considered low

Intermittent Fasting and Keto: The Pros and Cons
Intermittent fasting (IF) and ketogenic diets are all the rage now. They both promote fat burning. But how well do these two approaches combine? Ketogenic diets promote fat burning by restricting carbs, which forces you to rely more on dietary fat. IF restricts all calories for a large part of the day

Health Paradox: US diabetes cases fall as obesity rises
Hi everyone, Here's a really interesting article about how obesity is rising in the US and yet diabetes is falling. I think that some of these aberrations are due to them making diagnosis more robust so people have been diagnosed who has slipped through the net. They use the haemoglobin A1C blood test

An Interesting Thought Has Crossed My Mind Re The Current Vitamin A/Alveoli Research.
There is at the present time encouraging research showing that retinoid acid, the active agent in vitamin A, can, AND HAS, in experimental lab animals, RESTORED ALVEOLI! Of course big med and big pharma will make sure "it requires 25 more years of research." But ignoring that, here is my thought: In

Blood sugar testing
Hi I'm type 2 diabetic and I currently manage this by taking metformin 3 times per day weight each meal. I am concerned that I never know what my blood sugar readings are and asked my gp if I could have a test kit however was told I didn't need one. Does anyone test theirs and if so what type of monitor

while discussion about take Light beer for diabetes people Please looks at this picture how much carbs
The numbers are the grams of carbs in one 12 oz. bottle of beer (355 ml). There are huge differences between different brands, but most contain too many carbs to fit a keto diet. Even on a more liberal low-carb diet it might be wise to keep beer drinking as an occasional thing.

MEDICHECKS TEST KIT ARRIVED - which supps do I need to give up before testing and for how long?
Hi Everyone. This is my first private test and I really need to make this test count and get results which are as accurate as possible from it. I would be very grateful if members would have a look at the supps I am taking and advise which ones I need to stop before doing the test and for how long.

Repair Alveoli?
To begin with I am 80 and according to my pulmonologist my FEV1 says I am at stage 4. He has told me (just a month ago) that he has patients at my stage in beds in hospitals and nursing homes. But having said that, if you and I were to take a "walk around town" with me you would not know I had emphysema

Metformin for insulin resistance
I have insulin resistance. I'm constantly hungry no matter what I eat. I'm overweight and on the pathway for bariatric surgery. To get the surgery I need to lose some weight mainly to demonstrate I'm committed. It's almost impossible to loose weight while feeling this hungry. I get shakey and struggle

Exercise.... not only does it make you feel better.....
I’m not feeling so good, for a myriad of reasons probably, and I’m teetering at 5mg. I know from past experience that my daily walk ‘improved’ me, I feel better psychologically, I get less pain and stiffness, my bones benefit, my energy improves, I sleep better. Family commitments for the past 2 weeks
