Still no symptoms
Hi Nearly a year since being told I had decompensated cirrhosis, sadly I've not been able to stop the drinking but have given up the opiates. Still doing my best to pack in the drink but it's hard. cold turkey for opiates is so easy compared to alcohol. I still want my drugs but I can tell myself no

Update, Prof Watts lovely man, really puts me at my ease, anyway went for my Xray, no cartilage left and more bone growth on the elbow. I can leave it, have it injected or go for replacement, I've said yes to surgery but I'm thinking if I try and adapt what I do, use my scooter more often etc. The damage

Waiting times in hospital dreadful for mum
Hi friends hope you are all keeping strong and hugs to you all. I know I need a big hug. I just wanted to say that mum is due cataracts surgery now in February. Before then we have been going to hospital so they can take images of her eyes. The appointments have been for half ten and eleven in the mornings

treatment for my husband
my husband was diagnosed with MPGN in 1999 at age 22. He has been treated with prednisone, BP meds, ace inhibitors since diagnosis they now think it is C3G. I am looking for treatment options or those also treated with prednisone. Drs have concern about long term side effects of prednisone. So far

#1: The Start
Following the example of Clarebear I've decided to document my thyroid-adrenal journey on here in hopes it'll keep me accountable, and also may serve some after me. After a long, complicated history of no diagnosis, followed by lithium treatment, then prolonged time spent on T4 with no improvement,

One year on
Thought I’d give a little update on my ARLD journey. After 1 year of initial Fibroscan results which were CAP score 316 and 28.9 kpa elastography score, which shattered my world as it wasn’t expected. My latest results after abstaining from alcohol, which I may say has been oh-so difficult after

update on hubby 4
He continues to make slow improvements. Good days then bad days. He has been confused at times but that is improving slowly too. He is able to walk into the kitchen and bathroom using his walker. Eating small meals and generally more conversational. I saw my GP and he stated that my husband is still

ACTEMRA dose with prednisone
I was approved yesterday to start an infusion of ACTEMRA. The Rheumy is starting me on 500 mg. How much will this reduce my prednisone? I have suspected GCA with PMR. I have a trip planned in August to Ireland but will not be back by my infusion date. What will happen? Will I have to take more prednisone

Panic over cataract surgery
Hi friends I'm writing this as mum is on the toilet. She has cataract surgery due at 12.30 today but it is now 10.15 and mum needs a number 2. I'm worried we will not make it to hospital as she takes over an hour sometimes two to finish and then I have to wash and shower her. It takes an hour to get

Genetic Testing
Hi everyone, I would like to share one interesting experience related with my disease. Just a small recap, I diagnosed with FSGS this year, I am in 3a-3b phase. The problem is since I do not have any other disease, I am classified with primary FSGS. If I had any other certain cause to my kidney disease

vitamin A test results
I’d be very grateful for an opinion on my vitamin A test results from Medichecks. (My GP told me ‘We don’t test vitamin A’, (!!!?), so I got private testing, though it’s not one of the cheaper tests. ) I know conversion of beta-carotene to retinol can be an issue in hypothyroidism, and although I have
