Cataract surgery
I have ET and take hydroxyurea. I had cataract surgery in September and had multifocal lenses put in. I love the results, no more glasses. I still see halos around car lights at night and the recovery was worse than I thought it would be. I had to take drops 4 times a day for 4 weeks and wear an eye shield at night for a week.
There is a big "it depends" on which lens you pick. What are your vision goals? What is your current vision status? Do you have any visual conditions that limit your choices? Due to the convergence insufficiency that was exacerbated by the brain surgery, I am limited to some form on monofocal-exqual power lenses. My eye-doc recommended the Vivity lense for me. clevelandeyeclinic.com/cata...
This may or may not be the best choice for you. I am not quite ready for the surgery yet, but have a plan for when it is the right time. Wishing you success with your plan.
Hi SolederBarcelona. I had cataract surgery on 5 November 2021 and had a monofocal lens. Excellent no more glasses. Vision perfect even for driving. However in June I started Interferon. Platelets at the time were 800+. I am 82, ET, Jak2 . In August I noticed a change in my vision, TV wasn't as clear, blurred when waking etc. Went to optician last week, vision has reverted back to pre cataract op. Glasses for reading and driving which is borderline. Optometrist was unsure of reason but suspected it was the interferon. I started at 70mcg but couldn't tolerate it so I have reduced to 45mcg. Platelets have dropped to 500 which is good but very blurred vision. Waiting for my glasses to arrive. Apologies for long reply but I was warned about eyesight changes before starting interferon. I think you should talk to Surgeon/optometrist before deciding which lens and tell them the drugs you are on.
