macular oedema and cataracts
I am so pleased that I saw a consultant who wanted my sight to improve not be stable. She offered me Ozurdex and said it could give me cataracts. I said to her that I am on long term steroids for my polymyalgia rheumatica. She looked at my cataracts, said they were moderate but would refer me to the

ELF score 8.3
I have had several elastography tests, the last one the same week as I took ELF test. It was 4.8kpa, but ELF test shows moderate fibrosis (8.3). Its seems ELF test is more accurate, because on this forum I have found several people who feel smth is wrong with their liver that have normal elastography

Friend has high LFTs
Hi, My friend has high AST (150), ALT (115) and GGT (415). Thry have high blood pressure too. They've stopped drinking alcohol but are now terrified to go to the doctor and get scan results and want to ignore it. Will this definitely be bad news?

He confirmed the enlargement (not massive so far) and informed me it's one of the side effects of spironolactone buy could also be caused due to cirrhosis itself. Fluid restrictions ASCITES
My serum sodium is 137 mmol/L. Completely in normal range (133-146). I am taking spironolactone 300mg and furosemide 80mg. My question is how much do I need to restrict fluid intake for ascites due to cirrhosis?

Still in HF?
Hi all, First post. This is a great forum, very informative and supportive. Diagnosed with hypertension 18 months ago, usual ACE inhibitors took 6 months to lower BP. Then came AF, on Atenolol and Eliquis, but side effects, and GP switched me to Bisoprolol. Symptoms worsened and I ended up hospitalized

Hi All, I'm new here and from New Zealand. I'm 44 years old and for the last 4 years have been drinking 60-70 units of alcohol (neat Vodka) in some weeks (about 14 units a night, with 6-8 weeks alcohol free in a year interspersed) I had a drinking problem before that from age 26 but not nearly as

Should I switch from Riveroxaban to Apixaban?
I'm a 64 yr old male and have paroxysmal AF. 3 years ago my cardiologist put me on Riveroxaban as well as Flecainide.I have not had any issues with Riveroxaban but seeing all the comments,I was wondering whether I should switch to Apixaban given that it is better for gastric bleeding.

ozurdex injection
I went to my eye clinic today and saw a different consultant. she said although my macular oedema is not getting any worse it is not improving. She suggested I have an Ozurdex injection. We got to talking about cataracts and she looked at mine and said they were moderate. She then said she would make

Still no symptoms
Hi Nearly a year since being told I had decompensated cirrhosis, sadly I've not been able to stop the drinking but have given up the opiates. Still doing my best to pack in the drink but it's hard. cold turkey for opiates is so easy compared to alcohol. I still want my drugs but I can tell myself no
