A small molecule induces readthrough of cystic fibrosis CFTR nonsense mutations
An experimental drug reported in Nature Communications suggests that a “path is clearly achievable” to treat currently untreatable cases of cystic fibrosis disease caused by nonsense mutations. This includes about 11 percent of cystic fibrosis patients, as well as patients with other genetic diseases

Menopause and problems
Hi there I’m new to this forum but been with HU many years on the running forum. I’m 4 years into menopause and I am struggling so much right now and wondered if anyone could offer some help or questions for me to ask in my upcoming appointment on Tuesday, I’ve been trying to cope on my own but I think

Fatigue--Side effects of Ursodiol?
Hi I am new to this forum and grateful that it exists. I have just been diagnosed with PBC (early stage) and was put on Ursodiol. I am 62 and otherwise really healthy and fit. Yet at this point. I am really struggling with fatigue (and occasional dizzy spells) and wondering if anybody else experienced

Ashermans, thin lining, low ovarian reserve, poor responder.. trying ivf one last time with donor sperm for possible surrogacy if lucky
After many years of having a Mirena coil for heavy periods, my then partner and I decided to start to try for a baby. I thought it was strange that when I had the coil out my periods remained just as light as when I had it in. I decided to do some hormone tests, and discovered I had a high prolactin

PD and Depression
My mama has had PD for over 15 years and a fall a few years ago , with a C2 fracture put her on bed . The thing is that the doctors gave up on her. She had a nasal tube for 4 months which messed up her swallowing and hence her speech . I remember even after the accident in the hospital she was talking

Symptoms but no diagnosis. Frustrating. I've tried everything and would appreciate any kind of advice. Please note this is a very long post.
I started to feel discomfort on the right side below my ribs about a year and a half ago. It wasn't pain as such but more of a discomfort that one should not feel daily. I was drinking heavily at the time; beer, whiskey, tequila. This discomfort has now become chronic that would last for a few hours

Medication for af and heart failure

Bone medication
I have been taking Ibandronic acid for a few years now for brittle bones due to years of Lupus meds. Recently my new dentist made a point of saying that they look out for it on people’s records as it causes teeth and jaw problems!! My friend just had the same reaction from her dentist. What’s going

Alendronic Acid and migraines
Has anyone had migraines associated with alendronic acid? I took AA for 3 weeks and then stopped (with GP blessing - see other posts). I was diagnosed with ocular migraines about 3 years ago and had a very occasional one. They are migraines with an aura and all the associated blind spots and weird visual

Dexa scan results
Bit distraught. Got my dexa results today and it appears I have osteopenia throughout the lumber spine and total hip with osteoporosis of femoral neck. Wish I'd taken the flipping alendronic acid now! What now? Is any of this reversible? Feeling very tearful, please help.

Magnesium Supplements
I'm taking 350mg soluble magnesium carbonate every other day, as suggested by my GP before I was diagnosed. However, I have read that Magnesium Glycinate is specifically recommended for absorption and also as a sleep aid of sorts. Would welcome any feedback - i.e. what dose should be taken daily

Hello everyone. My question is can AlA and ALCAR be taken together with l/c, or does it have to be taken separately? I get very tired exercising. Thank you. Jesus

Spinal compression
I have recently sadly sustained another spinal compression which is really painful this time. Not helped by the fact it has taken my doctors so long to sort out medication for me. I had my first in August last year and I’ve still not started on any programme after failing to get along with alendronic
