Hi everyone. I am currently reading a book by Dr Andrew Jenkinson entitled Why We Eat Too Much. It is so interesting and really explains how eating and obesity relates to our hormone balance and the effects processed food and refined carbohydrates / sugar has on this. Interestingly it also discusses the role essential fats omega 3 and omega 6 have on weight gain. This particularly relates to processed food. Thought I would share as it is definitely worth a read x

I'm avoiding sugar, sweetener and refined carbs and having a fish oil capsule every day and it's working well for me. I definitely don't feel as hungry as before.
That's good to hear. It certainly seems to way to go. I have been calorie counting but struggle with feeling hungry. I will move over to this way of eating. Thanks for your reply.
Give it a week without sugar and sweetener and then see how you are feeling. I had a very sweet tooth and was having far too much sugar in thing's like biscuits or chocolate. If I need a snack now I have nuts or small portion of cheese and biscuits like a babybell and two oat cakes.
Fish oil helps curb ur appetite?
I take fish oil but have not found where it curbs my appetite at all. It has helped my cholesterol somewhat.

Hi Zendaya, sounds like a good book! I'll add that one to my list to read I'm doing the same as Bear789 above - have cut out processed food, sugar, refined carbs, increased healthy fats. Wonderful to be released from the endless constant thinking about food and hunger. Hope it works well for you too.
For me, food has always been a comfort thing. I know it’s numbing effect is only temporary and then the guilt kicks in. I’ve been on a healthy eating plan before, lost a lot of weight and maintained for a few years but then gained it back when I struggled with emotional upheaval. I’m finding a mix of counselling to find healthier coping mechanisms & eating nutrient dense whole foods is really working - the healthy eating not only keeps me feeling full but boosts my mood. I still struggle with chocolate cravings but I know it’s a lifetime habit I’m trying to break. I don’t add sugars to my food or drinks but do eat delicious fruit and have a planned chocolate snack each weekend - a treat sized bar which I walk to the shop to buy so I don’t have it in the house. My ideal would be to feel OK around all food, eat nutritional tasty home cooked food the majority of the time but have the occasional treat without guilt.
Much obliged love for sharing🙂
