We have a bunch of newcomers, so just wanted to say a

𝔹𝕀𝔾 𝕎𝔼𝕃ℂ𝕆𝕄𝔼 !!!

It’s so good to see you all here, as we know that attending to S&F can be life changing, including supporting our running or walking!

Besides supporting those who are working through our core NHS-associated 5- week programme, we organise regular fitness activities on here, from plankathons, Pilates challenges to rolling out our monthly virtual yoga mat. So feel invited to join us!

And for some signposting to where you might want to head on our S&F forum, the following might help:

1. First of course the reason you might find yourself here: @oldfloss fun post can be found here healthunlocked.com/strength... and those who’ve been on S&F for a while will recognise her unresistable style. Remember her classic posts covering the whole body? They were some of the first posts I read on S&F. So I’m so looking forward to where these posts are heading!

2. Our core program is of course timely considering the current sunny weather (in the UK). Perfect to do outside in gardens and parks, our core programme is the NHS 5-Week Strength and Flexibility Programme, details and all links are at healthunlocked.com/strength...

3. Beyond the 5-week programme, there is a group of us doing daily short yoga sessions, following the YWA monthly calendar at yogawithadriene.com/calendar/

4. And if you are looking for something more advanced, or something different, we have a few topic related folders, which might be of interest. So for handy reference here the links to our themes and tags, which each have a growing number of workouts.

Thank you , I am just starting out on the NHS Strength & flexibility program but this will be very useful once I have finished that.

Brilliant! Have fun!

When I did the NHS 5-week S&F program, I was able to do it outside in the garden and it allowed me to really connect with my garden again. I loved doing all those drills with the tree in my garden, the garden bench or marching around the lawn.

Mind you, our garden is quite private.

Have fun!

I did feel a bit odd doing it in the local open space even though it was early so I might do the last session of week 1 in my house/garden - I don’t care what my neighbours think as they already know me 🤣 I think I might repeat week 1 again as I didn’t realise how stiff my knees & hips are .

Great to see you're joining us! We can cheer each other on,doing benchdips 💪

I think I will try to repeat week 1 again as I am very inflexible.

That's a good idea henderslh. I did all 5 levels at least twice, before I moed on to the next one. It's surprising how much stiffness we put up with without knowing it.

I'm still doing level5 at home. I do do the warm up bit outside every morning during the 1st dog walk. That in itself is challenging for me, and the poor dog 🐾🐾🐕

I bet your dog wonders what you are doing 🤣

I am really late to the party, but oh wow! So much stuff here, it's brilliant - but where to begin! Thanks so much for this. It's really got me thinking. Is the nhs 5 week strength and flexibility plan a good place to start?

Welcome!! So great to see you here!

Yes, the NHS 5-week programme is a great way to start.

And if you also want to join a more collective activity, Beatlesforever will be dropping a challenge to get from 0 to 10 push-ups. See healthunlocked.com/strength...

But the 5-week programme is great and we have a few S&F-ers that are going through that programme again, very successfully and going from strength to strength. ( waving to TheTabbyCat 👋)

Any questions, just post them.

(((👋))) thanks for that CBDB, I'm very nearly melting here, 🇮🇹, 35° and counting but tomorrow Sunday 16th I'm attacking level 1 ,3rd day .

I'm going to add 10 sit to stand and 3 sneaky benchdips at the end. If I don't end up with my butt on the floor tomorrow, Tuesday I'm going to try level 3 😁 . It's great to know what's coming, I'm much fitter than I thought after my month on the injury bench 🙃

Frankenfoot23 the NHS, 5 weeks plan is a perfect way to kick off a fitness plan. Go for it 👍💪😻

Thank you, I think it's going to be an ideal start at this. I've done a bit of yoga but need to step it up a bit. Thanks for the thumbs up on this :)

That's brilliant, thank you :) I've downloaded the podcasts and already given the week one workouts a go. I'm wondering why I didn't do this at the start of c25k! Already I can tell these exercises are really going to help :)All the best!

You are very welcome! And WELCOME!!!

to start I have downloaded the 5 week podcasts and will build other bits in. I do swim and run and horse ride and walk so lots to keep me busy. Flex is particularly good for me as I do get quite stiff.

Yes, and if the 5-week podcast seems a bit too easy, the YWA yoga monthly calendar is excellent for flexibility.

Feel free to post your thoughts about your progress!
