In the UK we’ve experienced some beautiful sunny autumn days and quite a few muddy, rainy drizzly autumn days, both perfect for having fun on those walks and runs in the mud and sunshine.

So what is everyone doing for their workouts at home? Or the gym? Or outside?

In the past few months there have been some impressive collective achievements, from all those amazing plankies doing the Plankathon healthunlocked.com/strength... (

Then there was a group doing the BCUK October Challenge ( healthunlocked.com/strength... ) which sadly is now behind a paywall again, but it was great while it lasted!

And of course currently in November we have our collective Yoga mat out and welcoming anyone wanting to try this easy fun daily practice: healthunlocked.com/strength...

And for anyone new to this forum, a

For some signposting to where you might want to head on our S&F forum, the following might help:

Perfect to do outside in gardens and parks, our core programme is the NHS 5-Week Strength and Flexibility Programme, details and all links are at healthunlocked.com/strength...

Beyond the 5-week programme, we have a few topic related folders, which might be of interest: healthunlocked.com/strength...

So let us know what you’re up to, it’s so inspiring to read what all of are doing. Keep on keeping on!

Have a wonderful autumn full of stretchy and refreshing and strengthening and most of all fun workouts!

This has made me think about organising myself!

I'm on a winter triathlon plan at the moment, which is getting me out running, biking, and swimming perfectly well so far, but I also have been meaning to include "regular" strength work. Well, this doesn't work so well because I forget to do it a lot of the time 😂 So I've just been into my triathlon spreadsheet and added extra rows for strength work! Let's see if it works...

I'm doing all my strength work at home:

Deadlifts (with the heaviest weights I have, but I must get some extra weights!), pull-ups, and push-ups. Three times a week. With the deadlifts I'm hoping to improve upon an annoying niggle in the back of my right thigh!

Suzanne Bowen Fitness streaming barre workouts - I have a six month subscription to SBF which actually expires next month, so I may have a re-think. Twice a week for those.

Happy Autumny working out, CB and all!! xxx

Nice! I am at such a different level, but what I found so surprising that only a handful of days of strength training can address my knee niggles.

So I have my fingers crossed confidently that you will get on top of your thigh niggles via strength workouts!

Awesome! 👏👏💪

All of these workouts are really short, so really I can easily fit them in, but the day just disappears 😂

That's great about your knee! I am getting fed up with my hamstring now 😬😂 Definitely time for some action...

I loved the Pilates and found it filled the gap that my physio classes had left so I decided to go for it and sign up and see how it works. So I've now got zoom yoga on Monday, live yoga on Thursday, Zoom Pilates on Saturdays with daily classes available on line. Thankfully I've done a deal with my son asks he's paying for the Pilates in exchange for gardening (more exercise 😉)

Apart from that I'm running twice a week with alternate weeks doing a 10k to try to get the distance feeling like a natural one for me 🤞

Daily I do stretches before getting out of bed which are increasingly important for my dodgy shoulder, balancing on one leg while cleaning my teeth 😂 and I started a daily meditation practice a couple of weeks ago.

So lots to keep me active 🤞

Sounds great! I loved the Pilates session but I have to admit love the overall YWA more, so have returned to that daily practice! But Catford Pilates is now on my radar.

You may not have realised it but this post inspired me to get going again with the 10 minute fitness studio strength and resistance workouts. Alas I had abandoned yoga and any other sort of strength and flexibility workouts completely. A combination of summer holidays, trying to get back into 3 runs a week, a bad cold and ferrying grandchildren to school while their mum was isolating after testing positive for COVID (no symptoms thankfully). So thanks for the gentle kick up the backside - I needed it!

Awww, that is so great to hear! And yes, life sometimes gets in the way of living, doesn’t it! 😉

And getting a solid pattern of running 3/week is sometimes all you have capacity for! Do well fine!

The fitness studio sessions are nice and short and intensive! So great stuff!

( I’ve been sidelined to the Injury Couch from running due to a foot issue. So I’m now trying to gently kick my backside into adopting a rowing habit, but it’s so much less fun than running and I really struggle to get motivated. Upwards and onwards!)

My husband has a Concept Rower (he is unable to run anymore due to a issue with his feet) I try it on occasions but is just so boring compared to running outside - so I know what you mean about the struggle to get motivated😕

Yeah 😞 I do like rowing, and we have a concept. But nothing beats running, I find. (I used to love biking, but still running wins these days)

But I might also have to learn about my foot-related limits.

So I’m planning do do this 30 day rowing challenge: youtube.com/playlist?list=P...

Your husband might know it, but I just recently discovered this one. I’ll do it over more than 30 days, as I’ll be only rowing 3days/week.

Here’s to finding ways to make rowing exiting!

Sounds interesting! He doesn’t follow any sort of plan just tends to do fast and slow intervals for a set period of time - so I am sure he won’t have seen that challenge😂 I’ll mention it to him. Actually the display on the rower has been broken for several years so he has an old kitchen clock set up close to it. Every now and then he investigates a new display but always balks at the price - he doesn’t even play music and the rower is outside in an old box trailer - so not even a view - I don’t know how he does it really🤔
