Ladies,
I thought I’d share with you our journey so far.. I did a lot of research after our failed IUI and IVF.
I wanted to make sure that the next round we do, will be the last.
The first step for me was I had to eliminate alcohol, caffeine and sugar from my diet for at least 2-3 months before FET. (Trust me, I’m a coffee fiend and this was extremely hard)
The second step is to make sure I’m taking the right vitamins, so aside from prenatal supplements. Here’s what I took: (remember this is after egg collection)
2000mg of Omega 3
1000mg of Vitamin d3
500mg of Vitamin C
Approx 200ml of grass fed bone broth daily.
I did a lot of reading about the benefits of going 100% organic and thought it was worth a shot.
I have to admit, the shopping bills were quite expensive and you can’t always buy organic produce from Asda or Sainsburys. Waitrose or Ocardo are the best.
I did the organic diet for approx a month before the FET along with taking my vitamins and drinking my bone broth. If you’ve never had bone broth I really encourage you to research as it does wonders for everything it truly is magic.
Let me know if you’d like my recipe and I’ll send this over..
So a little bit about myself. I’m in a same sex marriage and we were lucky enough to harvest 6 embryos from my wife. (12 in total, 6 didn’t make it) my wife had an AMH level of 6.1 and I had her on everything before the egg collection.
To make things even more difficult, I naturally don’t produce enough progesterone so I have to stick those nasty prontogest needles in my bum.
After the first failed IVF cycle, our doctor decided to try us with Clexane which is a blood thinning injection to help increase our chances.. But honestly, these injections aren’t that bad. I’ve actually mastered them and it barely even hurts.
So FET date is soon approaching, my lining is well on its way and ready.
A friend of mine suggested that we try acupuncture as that worked for her on her 3rd go. I found a great clinic in London called the London acupuncture clinic and we saw Danny who was incredible.
Danny suggested that I came in for treatment a few hours before my FET and then immediately after.
Acupuncture helps with the blood flow to the uterus and apparently makes that embryo stick!
I was actually surprised at how easy the process was and it only cost £70 per session.
So after the first session we headed off to the hospital where I was put to sleep for my FET.
We decided it was better this way as the last time we tried FET it was like she was stabbing me in my fuff 🤣 so we wanted to reduce as much stress and thought this was the best option.
After the procedure I had to stay on the bed and eat something before being discharged. I stayed away from cold drinks and guzzled the warm soup. I also brought some room temperature 100% pomegranate juice as I had read this can help with implantation.
Once I’d been discharged it was then time for the dreaded journey home via the tube. It would have been silly to catch a cab as London traffic during peak hour is horrendous. It actually wasn’t that bad 🤣
We’re now home and the heating is now up full whack. My wife got me these lovely warm slipper socks which kept my feet cosy and warm. I hear that’s the key.
Keep yourself warm with a blanket and socks. I also spent the next 5 days eating nothing but bone broth soup (Bone broth, with veggies wizzed up) and watching TV. No pineapple, yes no pineapple. However I did indulge in a handful of Brazil nuts 🤣 I’m a tad superstitious.
The day after FET felt like there was electricity going on in my womb, with flutters, punches and tugs. This lasted for about 3 days and I then had the odd twinge here and there but nothing major.
We’re now at 7pt and I was hit with nausea ... that only really happens when I’ve been drinking white wine the day before and have my head in the pan the next day ... this time I wasn’t drunk.
The nausea really only lasted for a day with really no other symptoms after that.
The day before test day and I’m almost for certain it’s a negative.
I try reassuring myself and prepare myself for seeing the dreaded single line. That single line I’ve seen too many times.. so I try and spend the day staying off google and keeping myself busy with work. That didn’t work. 🤣
4am I wake up with a full bladder and desperately try to keep it in, but the pain and excitement overtakes. I pee in a cup, open a first response early detection (99% accuracy) and hold it in there for 5 seconds..
And guess what. 2 friggen pink lines!!
So I realise this is a bit of a short story, but I wanted to share our journey so far with you all and I know we’re not out of the woods yet.
But one thing i will say is try and stay positive. Listen to your body and feed it with absolute goodness. Listen, I’m no expert but I’m a firm believer in healing the gut and eating clean. I honestly think (besides luck) that the bone broth, vitamins, keeping warm, eating soup and the acupuncture worked.
Give it a go, what have you got to lose.
The best of luck everyone xxx
