aspirin

hi ladies. I’m back again with another question. Has anyone taken aspirin during their two week weight or maybe even prior to it? With my first round of IVF I remember reading a lot of stories of women taking aspirin as it’s a blood thinner and can decrease chances of miscarriage. I asked my doctor today at the clinic if I’m OK to take aspirin alongside my other medication’s since I do have an issue with blood clots often in my menstrual cycles - not large clots, but just sometimes more than other months.

I wanted to ask if anyone has taken aspirin during their IVF treatment and any stories or benefits they think they got from it?

I am doing a frozen embryo transfer very soon. Currently on Lubion injections plus Cyclogest x2 a day. I am also still on Progynova 4 pills a day.

thanks in advance for any replies xx

Me! My consultant suggested I take baby aspirin from day 1 of my cycle in preparation for my FET, as its meant to help improve blood flow to the uterus. My FET worked so I continue taking it (technically until 12 weeks).

Oh congratulations lovely I’m so happy for you that it worked! How many a day were you taking? I have a low-dose aspirin so far I’ve only taken my first one today. I’m doing my FET on Friday. Xx

I was prescribed with Aspirin as well. So just want to double check here, baby aspirin is just to split the pills we could get from pharmacy to be the right dosage, or is there a specific aspirin for baby (low dosage)? Many thanks!

Baby aspiring is Low dosage aspirin. I was originally prescribed 100mg (as that’s the dose it is sold in Spain, where my clinic is based) but I took 75mg and they were happy with this.

I took 75mg aspirin a few days before my FET to get blood moving. This was my own choice and now I’ve been advised to take 150mg. I’m currently 15 weeks.

Hello, could I ask what reasons you were advised to take the aspirin for the rest of your pregnancy? I had my viability scan and was discharged from fertility on Monday - my consultant has recommended I take 150mg of aspirin from 12 weeks due to my age (40 in Sept) it's an IVF pregnancy, and the fact when my son was born in 2018 his placenta was 'gritty'. I hadn't heard of aspirin use before so looking for other people stories and experience! Thank you :)

Mine is an ivf pregnancy and I think it may have something to do with preventing preeclampsia.

I took it for my successful cycle. I had 4 unsuccessful transfers and one embryo left. So my 5th and final transfer I decided to throw everything at it. So I started just 75mg a day I think a week before transfer. I didn’t even tell my clinic. That was the one that worked and gave me my daughter. But I also added pro biotics and had transfer a day later so I’ve no idea if it was the aspirin.

that’s amazing. I’m really happy for you. I’m glad it all worked out and that you got your daughter out of it xx I completely understand why you would throw everything at your final transfer. I’m at the same stage now and I thought it’s better to try and do everything less. Xx

It definitely didn’t hurt and as soon as I was pregnant my midwife told me to start 150mg of aspirin a day anyway- right through to 36 weeks to prevent blood clots. Good luck x
