Supplements for endometriosis, detoxification and immune health

Hi ladies,

I thought I’d post as I’ve been experiencing some positive change lately and wanted to share what I’ve been doing in the hope that it could bring relief to more people. I’ve read lots on supplements and alternative medicine and from reading about Ayurveda I kind of came across very good supplements which help with so many things in addition to improving endometriosis symptoms. I had excision surgery years ago and was on Zoladex for 6 months but my endo returned and so far only diet changes and supplements have made a difference. This and the fact that surgery is the only treatment, but Endo almost always returns, made me think that only what we put into our bodies can help this condition. Here is what I’ve been taking for about 3-4 months and in the last two periods I have had hardly any pain. I don’t know whether it’s the significantly reduced stress due to working from home with combination with the supplements, but there has definitely been a noticeable change in my period pain.

Quercetin 500mg by Solgar

NAC Solgar

Vitamin D3 4000iu (If you live In a country with a lot of sun exposure 4000iu of vitamin D3 might be too much, I’m in the U.K.)

Magnesium spray

Wellwoman original (for the B vitamins, Zinc and Selenium apparently very important)

Also determined to do the castor oil packs regularly, I’ve done this several times and it seems to help, as well as is apparently very good for detoxification which seems to be a major factor with Endo.

Please read on each one and check if it’s good for you personally, I’ve checked everything possible to confirm amounts, interactions etc relevant to me and what I’m taking.

Also worth mentioning that the ones I’ve lister above have been proven to help with strengthening the immune system and helping in the current coronavirus situation. Check @foundmyfitness dr Rhonda Patrick.

In addition I want to share a few more supplements which from my research have incredible reviews and have been recommended for endometriosis but I haven’t taken them personally yet as many of them apparently decrease blood pressure and mine is already low. I will be trying some of these on their own at some point without taking anything else at the same time.

Shatavari

Ashwaghanda

Andrographis + Ginseng

Plus many other herbs beneficial for hormonal balance. These are my notes from research on Ayurveda but not tried, I just want to put this here for anyone interested in reading more.

Black Haw (Viburnum prunifolium),

Raspberry Leaf (Rubus idaeus),

Nettles (Urtica dioica),

Violet (Viola spp), and

Red Clover (Trifolium pratense).

White Peony

Locorice

Yarrow

Wild yam

Ladies mantle

Turmeric

Ginger

Milk Thistle

Cinnamon

SINGLE HERBS THAT ARE BENEFICIAL IN ENDOMETRIOSIS ARE:-

* Ashoka

* Trikatu

* Daruharidra

* Lodhra

Please take this with a grain of salt and look everything up as I’m just sharing my personal experience, but I do hope that you try the first list of supplements as they are safe and very good for our overall health. Healthy diet and lifestyle are critical for managing endometriosis so I never rely only on supplements but I have changed my diet long time ago and only after taking these for a few months I actually experienced no pain for the first time in years.

Stay safe and healthy! Xx

Hi, thank you for sharing this. I am stage 4 and not on any medication and been doing the same, trying to help my boddy with Vitamins and supplements. I am originally not from the UK but been loving here for over 13 years now and after seeing a endocronologist realised how low my Vit D levels were. So since started taking supplement for the last 3 months have seen a great improvement on energy levels and reduced inflammation.

Iron level is another one which always troubled me. Wanted to share a special type of iron supplement called Nano Iron. For anyone who has trouble with tablets and the usual liquid iron this is a life changing supplement because is effective and gentle on the boddy.

I have been monitoring my diet recently and noticed that my pottasium level intake are quite low so been trying to help that out as well.

Thank you and stay safe

Great to hear things have improved with vit D.

May I ask you how did you get your GP to refer you to an endocrinologist? My GP is very reluctant to check my vit D, hormones or anything of that kind. Even to check iron I have to push so much.

I am lucky to have private medical care so I bypass the GP and just book appt with the consulants. My symptoms were extreme fatigue, tiredness, dark circles under my eyes and very low level of energy, anxiety, trouble staying asleep etc. Having said that, I was vegetarian for 3 yrs and did not supplement much so might have done some damage to myself. 1 yr later now, diet has changed to eating back fish and meat, have cut out sugar and wheat have supplemented with vit d , magnesium vit b1 b6 13 I am feeling better than ever. Hope this helps

Def lucky hehe 😉, you don’t have to deal with all the delays and do on.

I had similar symptoms and was lucky I got iron tested. Even though I was vegan they still don’t test. I do supplement but yes I get you. I moved back to being vegetarian and tried to add fish but after so long couldn’t enjoy it. But I try to supplement since I’m not sure I get enough omega 3 or other vit.

Thank you for sharing your list. I’ve tried some on this list.

I’m not very consistent with some of them or because I try so many different things together, it’s difficult to know what is the 20% that does the job. But I’ve been more consistent with vitamins, vitex, magnesium, zinc and evening primrose oil.

But I’d say I get good results since my pains used to be way worse.

Some of them I’ve used for so long that now I need to phase out for a while so they can work again. Vitex is one of them. Now I just do cycles of 3 months and then stop otherwise it stops working. Is like my body just gets used to it. So to avoid this I try to do most supplements for some time then stop and change around. So I always have things that work.

I also use a tens machine for pain so I can decrease pain killers.

I’ve just started NAC and enzymes to help with adhesions.

But I’ve been using supplements and diet and natural medicines for five years avoiding surgery. So I guess is not bad.

Now I’m waiting for surgery mainly because of fertility and because things have changed lately and I’m getting more mood issues, which affects my mental health a lot. But I know surgery is not a cure and it’ll create adhesions so I’ll need to get a plan for adhesions after the surgery.

So I’ve been looking into scar work therapy and enzymes as a plan after surgery.

Thank you happyseal , this is so helpful! It sounds like you've been managing well with a good plan, hopefully you'll get rid of the mood issues, I think you will see a difference with NAC after some time - I can't recommend supplements and herbs enough so best of luck!

I've now also tried Andrographis a couple of times as it's a week course and I'm very happy with it, it acts as an antibiotic without the antibiotic in it - as in gets rid of infections. I took it with Ginseng as this combination keeps blood pressure normal.
