Because of bouts of low energy and exhaustion, I have self medicated on Folic acid supplements which has helped a lot. I am sure that I take the correct dosage. However, I only noticed that it has made my cysts and pelvic discomfort a bit worse. I now have that feeling of something trapped/crawling around my pelvis. That sharp-dull ache at the position of the cyst has increased. I am now aware that folic acid could encourage the growth of abnormal cells. I am conflicted because I don't know how to deal with the fatigue and tiredness. My mum and aunt have endometriosis and noticed increase in pain after some days on Folic Acid.
I want to tell anyone on supplements to be observant and also to know how your symptoms are coming along while you're on the supplement.

I think I would benefit from folic acid only if I was trying for a baby right away. Otherwise, it's fueling my endo 😢 I have to find another supplement/food to help my energy levels.
Hi,I've not tried folic acid but have heard it's good to take if you're TTC for healthy spinal cord development of the baby. I take a lovely supplement called Floravital and it's the liquid iron supplement, plant based and comes in gluten free or non. Also I take ocean pure omega 3, derived from algae as fish don't produce omega 3 they just eat a lot of it! This is very anti-inflammatory just make sure you don't take omega 6 as that can cause inflammation. Maybe try rubbing clary sage essential oil mixed in coconut oil on the areas that are painful for you, I do that on the bottom of my back and apply a heat pack that helps a little. Hope you get some relief 💛
Do you take vitamin B12? It has helped with my sluggish energy levels, particularly since turning to the endo diet. I used to drink a barrel of brewered coffee, but now usually manage with teas instead.
I have found this threat searching for more people who have experienced the same I did. Last year I had surgery to remove vowel endometriosis. For almost a year it didn't come back, so I thought that it was gone for good. I started trying to conceive and my gynecologist recommended taking acid folic and some more vitamins. After starting taking them my endo was back. After that, I started a gluten and dairy free diet and I quit the folic acid thinking that first I wanted to get better. After 3 months of diet and no acid folic, I felt great again, like the endometriosis was gone. A month or so ago I started with the folic acid again and surprise the endo was back. It started getting really bad, so I quit the folic acid and you know what? 10 days without it and my endometriosis is almost gone again! So yeah, Acid Focil helps my endometriosis to grow.
