Hi!

Just wondering what the knowledgeable people on here think of my most recent medichecks results? I’m currently on 175 levo. These results were first thing in the morning and 24 hours since the last dose.

I stopped all supplements about 3 months ago when I had my 5th miscarriage (well ectopic and emergency surgery). I did this deliberately to see where my levels are at plus to have a break from all my expensive fertility supplements!

My main concern really is having results optimal as my T3 is always low (although this result is higher than normal). I am tired and sluggish in the morning and struggle to wake, and sleepy in the day although I can function fine. But I would like to not feel foggy! But main concern is wanting things optimal for my fertility levels which are poor, in case there is some miracle for us in the future. Plus I want to try and stay well since the thyroid is so important to all functions.

I can see my vitamin D is low since stopping supplements. I was previously on a lot under a nutritionist for fertility so it included selenium, T-convert, methyl factors, Vitamin D, magnesium, a pre-natal and much more like l-arginine, dhea and ubiquinol for fertility.

I don’t feel like I should or could take more levo - I already can feel jittery and have palpitations sometimes (these go away if I drop to 150mg levo, but then my T3 hits rock bottom and TSH goes over 2). I often feel anxious too, but have a stressful job I guess.

Inflammation CRP HS - 0.53 (< 5)

Ferritin - 104 (13-150)

Folate - 17.07 (>3.89)

Active vitamin B12 - 69.5 (>37.5)

Vitamin D - 53.5 (50-175)

TSH - 0.12 (0.27-4.2)

T3 - 4.47 (3.1-6.8)

T4 - 18.6 (12-22)

Thyroglobulin antibodies - 16.1 (<115)

TPO antibodies - 19.3 (<34).

Antibodies were normally above range when I was eating gluten but I’m now gluten free and have been for years and they stay in range - have not been over range since.

I have always blamed my thyroid for my fertility problems, but am very happy that I can stop feeling so bitter about that as we have a baby on the way via surrogate. I only mention that as I’ve mentioned our fertility issues on here before - 15 weeks with a baby girl 💕.

Thank you for reading!

Very sorry you have had such a tough time

But great to hear of baby on way

Vitamin D and B12 now rather low

As you have gluten intolerance and Hashimoto’s, likely to need addition of small doses of T3 prescribed alongside levothyroxine

Email Thyroid UK for list of recommend thyroid specialist endocrinologists who will prescribe T3

...NHS and Private

Thank you SlowDragon. I know you advised me by message which I really appreciated. I was using the vitamin D and B12 sprays by better you before, so maybe they are a good thing. But do you believe that selenium and/or T-convert help conversion?

I did see an endo a few years ago who only believes in armour thyroid - he prescribed me a dose and told me how to switch over but I think I felt over medicated and then my fertility consultant told me to stop it. What should I be asking for to have just a T3 top up alongside Levo?x

My gastroenterologist recommended selenium.....I do still take it ...never noticed any difference taking it or not

But some people do

Don’t know what T-convert is ?

Yes many of us can’t get on with NDT (Armour Efra etc) ...too much T3 in proportion to T4

Adding small dose T3 is often more flexible

You can adjust levothyroxine dose and T3 dose independently

One patient might take 75mcg levothyroxine and 30mcg T3 (as 3 x 10mcg doses)

Another patient might take 125mcg levothyroxine and 2 x 2.5mcg T3

Another might take 100mcg levothyroxine and 2 x 10mcg

Personally I take 125mcg 5 x week, 112mcg 2 x week

Plus 20mcg T3 as 10mcg at 7am, 5mcg at 3pm and 5mcg at 11pm (more on my profile)

It’s trial and error what suits each person

Can take a while to work out...

T-covert is supposed to help with conversion and contains:

Gum Guggul 300mg (no idea what that is!)

Magnesium 75mg

Zinc 7.5mg

Copper 750 microgram

Selenium 75 microgram (so more than RDA).

I’ll get myself back on my vit D and B12 sprays, and B-right, so folate wise maybe I don’t need extra?

So by T3 is it liothironine that I want to ask for? I really didn’t feel good on armour, I think I tried it for 3 months with no Levo.

X
