Good morning everyone π. Hope you are doing well.
Just had my latest private test results from Medichecks. Details in the photo (this table is my own personal way of keeping a record of my test results)
This was a full blood draw, fasting and last Levo dose not taken till after the draw. I also stopped B12 Lozenges a week prior to testing. I donβt take any biotin.
My supplements currently are:
Daily
1 x B50 Complex
Methyl B12 Lozenges
200ug Selenium
Better You VitD3 spray 3000iu
MagAbsorb Magnesium Citrate 150mg
Natural VitK2 MK-7 100 mcg
Zinc Picolinate 22mg
1 x Probiotic
Should have seen the Endo in March but not heard anything. My GP concerned about that and suggested I write to them. I did over 10 days ago and have heard nothing. Also rang the Clinic and left a message on answer machine but still nothing.
My results on 22/4 with GP were:
TSH 1.15 mIU/L (same ranges for all tests)
FT4 22.9 pmol/L (109% through range)
FT3 5.0 (51.35% through range)
21/1/20 at Endo appt, results from Dec Test
TSH 2.14 mIU/L
FT4 25.100 (same ranges 12-22) 131% through range
FT3 not tested
VIT D not retested after loading dose from December appt (my October Medichecks test showed I was very deficient in Vit D at 24.7 nmo/L so I got a private test again and my reading was 74 nmo/L)
9/12/19 at Endo appt
I used my October Medichecks results and gave Endo a copy
Looking at my latest results, it looks like my FT4 and FT3 readings have almost halved?
I know my readings indicate I have Hashimotoβs. I am shielding so not been out walking as much but feel, for the first time, I have gained an area of fat around my lower tummy! (As if things were not bad enough eh? π). Could be lockdown.
Appreciate any advice. π
Thank you in advance.

Yep stopped taking B12 for a week prior to blood draw. No not lactose intolerant it has just always been Teva brand I get. I noticed the drop in Vit D even though I have been out in the sun a lot recently and taking the Better You spray. No not gluten free (I know it is the advice given to go GF but in lockdown (I am shielding till 4/7) it has not always been easy.
According to NICE Guidelines for my weight - I should be on 170 and not 125. GP reduced me from 150 to 125 in October as my TSH had shot up to 9.83.
If your TSH had gone up to 9.83 GP should have INCREASED dose by 25mcg
See different GP
Aim of levothyroxine is to increase dose up slowly in 25mcg steps until TSH is under one and Ft3 at least 50% through range and FT4 around 75% through range
Plus vitamin D, folate and B12 levels need improving
Vitamin D around 80nmol and around 100nmol maybe better
Daily good quality vitamin B complex with folate in
Strictly gluten free diet often helps or is essential
Getting bloods retested in 6-8 weeks
Make sure to do blood test as early as possible in morning before eating or drinking anything other than water and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
Do you think I should ask for B12 injections? Why would my Vit D be low still when I am supplementing 3000iu daily and been out in the sun the last two weeks?
As far as your Vit D goes, if you can get some genetic testing, look for VDR-TAQ. Many people with autoimmune disease have it and are homozygous (two copies). This gene interferes with your Vit D receptors. If you have it, you may need a higher dose of D than the average person in order to get your levels up.
OK, so assuming you didn't do your test at 5am then your FT4 is probably showing lower than your normal circulating amount. If you took did your test at 9am then that would be 28 hours since last dose of Levo. Just mentioning this so that you realise your FT4 would show a bit higher if you leave the advised time gap of 24 hours.
So I am waiting to see the Endocrinologist. Do you think I am a poor converter?? Canβt believe I am nearly a year on (August annual test flagged up problems with TSH) and hundreds spent on private tests and supplements and I still am not improving. What about my B12 reading? Itβs low end of range - do you think I would benefit form injections?
Vitamin D: the Endocrinologist prescribed 800iu daily after the loading dose, without rechecking my levels. I went one step further and had my levels checked and started taking 3000iu per day in the Better You spray ... so why are my levels dropping? I know with Hashimotoβs it can be common for low stomach acid and poor conversion of nutrients from food hence leading to deficiencies? Is that correct?
