I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and started Nature-Throid 32.5 mg in September 2017; I am better, but still with pains, sometimes severe shoulders pain/muscles, very low temperature in my feet, tired, no night sleep, gained a lot of weight, weakness of arms, legs, restless legs, forgetfulness, nocturnal cramping, lightheadedness, dizziness going up, aphasia, skin hyperpigmentation. I also developed an oedema on the left leg, under the knee, left side; is it possible to have myxedema ?!?
I take daily:
Nature-Throid 32.5 mg (3/morning + 3 1/2 in afternoon).
Sweetie, I'm so sorry but it is so difficult to read results like that. I can't make head nor tail of them. And I can't make out if you've put any ranges. We always need the ranges to interpret results.
It's best if you can put them like this :
Date
TSH result (range)
FT4 result (range)
FT3 result (range)
etc. Then we'll be better able to help you. Sorry.
You didn't put a date on those results, and I thought you had more than one set of results.
Anyway, two obvious questions that have already been ask : How do you feel? And did you leave a 12 hour gap between your last dose of NDT and the blood draw? I'm guessing you didn't, because you're on such a small dose and you have so many symptoms. It's only slightly over-range, so if you felt well, I would say ignore it and carry on with that dose.
As to your oedema, it could possibly be myxoedema, yes. But, there's a slight chance that it could also be a pad of fat caused by low testosterone. But, in any case, I wouldn't worry about it because it should sort itself out when your thyroid hormones are optimised. We just need to know if you left that oh-so-important 12 hour gap.
There's nothing wrong with your rT3. It's well within range. It's fluctuations are meaningless because it's a pretty meaningless test. As to conversion, you can't tell once you are on NDT, because it contains T3 and the body keeps the FT4 low. Your cortisol isn't particularly low. So, I don't think you have adrenal fatigue. And I don't think you need to add in T3. But, you could always try T3 only if you wanted to, just to see if it helps.
Your vit D, on the other hand, is pretty low. Have you tried increasing that? Maybe take a little zinc. Apart from that, I can't see anything wrong.
Yes, I think you should. I don't think you should add T3 to your NatureThroid. I don't understand your dose. Can you put it into grains, please? Is that 1.5 grains? Did you take a dose before the test?
Leave your vit D dose as it is, too, and give it time to work.
