Ferritin is good halfway through range ! - so yours at 120 is over mid-range. Usually a sign of inflammation and could be due to your high anti-bodies.
B12 looks good - not a meaningful result as you were supplementing. The result indicates the amount of B12 - both bound and unbound - that is circulating in the blood - but only around 20% of the result can reach your cells where it is needed. So I would continue to supplement.
Read through your first post again where you will see my advice about supplementing a B complex. Folate looks fine.
You could take your VitD early in the day - around 4 hours after the levo - if it causes a sleep issue. Not heard of that one ! Also take Magnesium and VitK2-MK7 with the D3. I also commented on dose on your first post ....
Room for improvement with your thyroid results. A TSH around 1 or under is good for many here on the Forum. T3 needs a nudge so I would increase the T4 and hope for the best that it converts well
Am I right in thinking high ferritin points to liver issues??
Yes since I'm taking B12 its logical the readings will be inaccurately high - but I am still pleased because I'd read that methylcohalamin doesn't last long in the body- and I hadn't taken any before the test.
I will start supplements and see if I sleep better and have more energy.
Don't suppose you know any good docs/ chiropractors/ nutrician experts in Heraklion? Have searched on line but nothing....
Ferritin is a form of stored Iron - so when the serum iron drops it calls on the store cupboard for some more ! Hubby has Hashimotos and his Ferritin was high when first diagnosed - now OK.
Yes EXCESS B12 leaves the body quickly as it is water soluble - but the B12 itself takes months to lower. I discussed this very matter with the Chairman of the Pernicous Anaemia Society in the UK - Martyn Hooper.
I would increase your T4 dose a little.
Chiropracters - sorry do not know any. I see an Osteopath and a Physiotherapist as well as having massages - locally to me - Chania - Kalyves and around the corner !
As far as finding good Docs here I think you would be better sticking with this forum and reading as many books as you can manage. I have a shelf full if you would like suggestions or I could meet you in Rethymnon - if that is halfway ? Nutrition the same. If you want to discuss your needs either here on the Forum or in a PM I will do my best to offer suggestions and guide you towards good books and websites.
I saw an Endocrinologist in Heraklion way back in 2006 - but now take care of myself as much as is possible - and of course I just keep on learning new things here on the Forum. There are so many VERY knowledgeable members. You can click onto any name and read their Bio if they have done one - it enables you to learn more about people and you will soon feel you know them personally
The Thyroid and How To Keep it Healthy is an excellent book by Dr Barry Durrant-Peatfield. He is currently very poorly and in hospital. I saw him many years ago in the UK.
Thanks- I will check it out - I've been listening to a lot of talks on YouTube . My favorite at the moment is Dr John Bergman - they've got a hard job in the states to be healthy! We are lucky to still be able to find "healthy food " here at the moment.
It must be more difficult in the U.K. - I am popping over next month with my daughter and am wondering already how to stay gluten and dairy free.....
bit concerned about vit D since I already have disturbed sleep ....
You need to supplement Vit D as you're below the recommended level of 40-60ng/ml at 35.09 as mentioned in replies to your previous thread. Some people find their sleep is disturbed if they take Vit D in the evening, so as long as you take yours by lunchtime you shouldn't have a problem. Remember to take it with dietary fat (fattiest meal of the day, or if you use a softgel containing olive oil then just a full fat yogurt or buttered toast would do). Remember the cofactors that Marz mentioned last time - Magnesium and K2-MK7. Magnesium helps D3 to work and K2-MK7 directs the extra uptake of calcium from food, which D3 causes, to bones and teeth and away from arteries and soft tissues.
Vitamin B12 706.1 pg/mL up from 271 4 months ago - guess my supplements are taking!! Range 200-970)
Carry on supplementing, top of range is recommended. Also, take a good B Complex to balance ALL the B vitamins.
Folate 8.3 ng/mL (3-19.9)
A bit below optimal, it should be at least half way through it's range (11.5 plus with your range) but the B Complex will take care of that - look for one containing methylfolate.
Ferritin 120.90 ng/mL (13-150)
Good
Last TSH 2.73 mIU/ml (Down from 5.90 4 months ago - I've been on Euthyrox since then) range (0.40-5.00)
FT3 4.17 pmol/L (2.4-6.4)
FT4 20.12 pmol/L (10-24)
The aim of a treated hypo patient generally is for TSH to be 1 or below or wherever it needs to be for FT4 and FT3 to be in the upper part of their respective reference ranges when on Levo. You already know from your last thread that you need an increase in your Levo.
Anti-TG. 1219.5 IU/ml less than 100
Anti-TPO 2061.6 IU/ml
Again, you know from your last thread that these results confirm Hashimoto's. A strict gluten free diet, supplementing with selenium l-selenomethionine 200mcg daily and keeping TSH suppressed can all help reduce the antibodies.
Because Medical Schools rarely train students to understand the importance of nutrition. Most Medical Schools are sponsored by Big Pharma 😊 - there's a pill for everything ....
