Could anyone help with comments on our blood test results?

Yes, there are two of us, Meryl & Ian, with thyroid problems.

Despite working on a paleo diet and vitamins, we are both still suffering from scalp Psoriasis, brain fog and a general lack of enthusiasm.

This is frustrating, knowing that we could be better if only doctors would treat hypothyroidism adequately.

Meryl: One thing that particularly bothers me, is that my ferritin is above range. I have been taking Bio Care TH207 which contains kelp 220mg = 154ug iodine.

I read an article about LDN which seemed to suggest that it could be the answer, only to discover that along with T3, it is almost impossible to get prescribed.

Meryl’s present dose of levo is 75mcg and 100mcg on alternate days and Ian’s is 100mcg and 125mcg on alternate days.

Hope that this is not too much information, but would really appreciate your comments.

I am assuming that the following first two is Free T4?

FT*22.7pmo1/L12.00 – 22.00 for Meryl and

FT*23.8pmo1/L12.00 – 22.00 for Ian

Free T3 3.84pmo1/L 3.10 – 6.80 for Meryl

Free T3 4.2pmo1/L 3.10 – 6.80 for Ian.

I am not medically qualified but the above FT4s are slightly over range.

FreeT3's are too low and should be towards the upper part, ie. 6.

It would seem to me that both of you are not on a sufficient dose of levothyroxine or cannot convert properly.

Did you have your blood tests at the very earliest, fasting (you can drink water) and did you allow a gap of 24 hours from your last dose of levo and the test and take it afterwards.

Others will respond re your other results.

My observations based on my own experience and research, bearing in mind I am not medically trained.

Meryl 75mcg and 100mcg on alternate days

Did you get iodine level tested before starting the TH207? We shouldn't supplement iodine unless tested and known to be deficient.

Some members do use LDN I believe, so you could make a new post about that and you could find out where to obtain it and how to use it.

TSH 0.316mIU/L0.27 – 4.20

FT4 22.7pmo1/L12.00 – 22.00

Total Thyroxine 109.0 nmo1/L 59.00 – 154.00

Free T3 3.84pmo1/L 3.10 – 6.80

TSH is good , FT4 just above range but FT3 far too low indicating poor conversion. Addition of some T3 would be beneficial and maybe reduce Levo slightly to bring FT4 down into range.

RT3 23ng/dL10.00 – 24.00

Reverse T3 ratio *10.87 15.01 – 75.00

rT3 in range but at the top. Probably because FT4 is high and T4 isn't getting converted well enough to T3. Ignore the ratio, that's low because FT3 is low.

Thyroglobulin Antibody <10 IU/mL 0.00 – 115.00

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies 9.84IU/mL 0.00 – 34.00

No sign of Hashi's with those results.

Active B12*>256.0pmo1/L 25.10 - 165.00 Folate 19.98ug/L 2.91 – 50.00

Are you supplementing with B12? If so I'd drop back a bit. Folate should be half way through range so if you're supplementing with a B Complex then carry on, hopefully it contains methylfolate at arond 400mcg.

Vitamin D 80.6nmo/L 50.00 – 200.00

Really needs to be 100-150nmol/L. Are you supplementing? If so, are you taking D3's important cofactors, especially K2-MK7 and magnesium?

CRP-High sensitivity 3.3mg/1 0.00 – 5.00

Within range so not a problem. When it's high it's a sign of inflammation or infection.

Ferritin*170ug/L 13.00 – 150.00

Are you supplementing? Again, when it's high it can be a sign of inflammation or infection.

Ian’s Results 100mcg and 125mcg on alternate days.

TSH 0.592mIU/L0.27 – 4.20

FT4 23.8pmo1/L12.00 – 22.00

Total Thyroxine 127.0 nmo1/L 59.00 – 154.00

TSH is good , FT4 just above range but FT3 far too low indicating poor conversion. Addition of some T3 would be beneficial and maybe reduce Levo slightly to bring FT4 down into range.

rT3 over range. Probably because FT4 is high and T4 isn't getting converted well enough to T3. Ignore the ratio, that's low because FT3 is low.

No sign of Hashi's with those results.

Active B12*>256.0pmo1/L 25.10 - 165.00

Folate >19.98 ug/L 2.91 – 50.00

Does it really say >19.98, there is usually a definite figure rather than > when there is a range with a lower and upper limit.

This result seems to be the same as Meryl's, have you got them mixed up? If not, what a coincidence!

Are you supplementing with B12? If so I'd drop back a bit. Folate should be half way through range so if you're supplementing with a B Complex then carry on, hopefully it contains methylfolate at arond 400mcg.

Vitamin D 74.3nmo/L 50.00 – 200.00

Really needs to be 100-150nmol/L. Are you supplementing? If so, are you taking D3's important cofactors, especially K2-MK7 and magnesium?

CRP-High sensitivity 1.5mg/1 0.00 – 5.00

This is fine.

Ferritin 137ug/L 30.00 – 400.00

Half way through range is recommended, but I've seen it said that 150 is fine for men. Eat liver every week or two to improve/maintain level.

Thank you for your comments.

Have stopped taking TH207. I am going to stick to single supplement and have

suspended the B12 supplement. I will do more research on T3.
