How can we trust the NHS
I recently attended my local hospital's phlebotomy clinic as my GP said he doesn't keep the special phials needed to test for zinc, and that they would probably have to search for them at the hospital as they are specialised and more expensive than the norm.... So I mentioned that to the phlebotomist

CFS or Pyroluria?
Pyroluria is an inability to synthesise and metabolise oxygen from haemoglobin, resulting in an inability hold sufficient zinc, Vitamin B6 or B3 in the body. http://www.getupandgoguru.com/pyroluria-or-cfs/

What vitamins are folk taking?
I'm taking magnesium, zinc, and iron (I don't eat red meat), omega 3, and b complex. These are vits I've heard are good for the brain. I guess they must be doing something!

Painful aching legs and other joint pain - has Zoladex done this to me????
Hi Ladies, About a year ago now I was on Zoladex (with add-back HRT) for stage 4 Endo but had to come off it as it made me quite poorly. Then I was on Depo-Provera injections for a few months but stopped them at the beginning of March this year because I wasn't benefiting much from that treatment either

New to the site. Trying to tie down symptoms, also does anyone have Myrios discount code?
Hi everyone, I'm new here. I've been wanting to do a 'checkup' on my vitamins, minerals and the such like for a while, but after finding some of the information on this site, it's made me try to get something done. I'm unsure if I have an under active thyroid as I have some of the symptoms, but it could

How do people fair with a head and chest cold with lupus?
I woke up today very phlegmy...constantly have to clear out of my throat...my neck feels sore by my thyroid, if that's possible. Should I see doc for anti biotic or wait till I get a fever or ride it out with tea, zinc and vit c. I don't think it's bronchitis, just a lot of phlegm. Maybe from allergies

Feeling very ill after eating cheese and milk, has anyone else had these reactions, headaches and generally feeling very unwell
Hi just wondering whether anyone on here has felt ill after eating milk and cheese products. Have been gluten free now for 3 years and have posted on here a few times to say that I still didn't feel very well. People were helpful and suggested I get my vitamins and minerals tested and eventually

urine tests for T3, T4 and Iodine and minerals
Hi has anyone used Genova's urine test which checks T4, T3 and Iodine levels? Do the results equate to blood tests for the same? I am also looking at Genova's mineral profile which will tell me how Selenium, Zinc and Magnesium levels + other things are doing. Any comments positive or negative would

Selenium...yes or no?
I have a thyroid problem hyper /hypo for over 30 years and now have Firbomyalgia. I read a book on a diet for it and it said to take Selenium, I am now taking ACE WITH SELENIUM --+ ZINC... One tablet... Wasn't quite sure what Selenium was so looked it up and found this as follows; Selenium also plays

Genova Tests
I have had two suggestions that I may be suffering from Reverse T3 and another suggesting I am not converting well. For my peace of mind and the difficulty of persuading the NHS to do anything I have decided to have some tests done privately. Currently I am taking Levothyroxine 100 mcg and 125 mcg on

What should my temperature be at different times of the day?
When first diagnosed around 25 years ago I was taught to vary my dose (Initially extract, then went over to Levothyroxine following a strike) by taking my basal temperature and heart rate. It was so static that I eventually stopped doing it. Recently I felt my thyroxine was not making a great deal of

Do all: iron, ferritin, Vit D3, calcium, zinc, magnesium, B12, folate have to be in the high ranges for the body to utilise thyroxine?
I believe that all the above need to be in high range for us to feel very well, but for the body to utilise thyroxine, is it necessary for them all to be in high range or is only B12 essential?

I have a whole concoction of vitamins and minerals here, are they safe???
I went onto the thyroid UK site for a bit of research and came across the vitamin and mineral bit where I read this: "Both Stephen Langer in his book Solved: 'The Riddle of Illness' and Dr Ridha Arem in his book 'The Thyroid Solution', tell us that people with thyroid problems should make sure they
