Pyroluria and Hypothyroid. Is there a link?
This is my second post today, so apologies but I am trying to sort this thing out. I am symptomatically hypothyroid, normal labs (before meds) and am on T3. For me all of this started after a stressful period. I am wondering if anyone has heard of KPU or pyroluria? If not here is a link: http://naturalinsight.hubpages.com

Hi Everyone. Wondering if anyone here has heard of or been tested for KPU. A genetic disorder of heme synthesis that occurs during periods of high stress. The net effect is a leaching of zinc and B6 from the body (along with other minerals) and a possible increase in copper retention. It causes a lot

Please can someone help me interpret my blood results and what else could be done
Hello, I would appreciate some advice as GP is not being helpful. Since 2011 my health has declined and I eventually got a diagnosis of subclinical hypothyroidism. Here is my treatment journey/results since March 2014. March 2014 - I had many of the symptoms (fatigue, brain fog, aching arms, sensitivity

Trialing NDT, should I stop Levo for a while first?
I'm about to trial NDT but currently take Levothyroxine. Just wondered what experiences others have had with switching over and if I should consider taking a short break from all meds inbetween. I also take a combination of supplements: Selenium, Vit E, ashwaghanda/astragalus and agnus castus in AM

Hi. I am new to the site and have seen that selenium and zinc are important for t3 conversion.
I have noticed from the link to vitamins and minerals that 20mg of zinc seems to include copper. Is this an acceptable combination for me to take. Thanks in advance

Getting adrenals checked
Hi I noticed on a post the other day that Regalbirdy mentioned about getting adrenals checked if you are still feeling tired. I have since done a search on the website and can see that there are other posts regarding this. I also noticed that there seems to be two tests, a blood test and saliva tests

Which supplements would you recommend?
I'm about to place my order with Holland and Barrett, I've got Magnesium with zinc, selenium, and D3 in my basket. Anything I could be missing? Determined to finally feel good, so sick of my thyroid controlling my life.

Joint pain and muscle ache in hips, knees and legs
Currently on 3 grains of Nature Throid, after being on Levo for 4 years and trying T3 but getting severe headaches. I'm feeling pretty well apart from hip pain, right knee pain and muscle and ligaments feeling tight, heavy and aching. I'm also on Vit D prescribed, B12 sublinqual tabs, Folate 5mg, selenium

Zinc results
My GP asked for my zinc to be tested as a result of my complaint about hair loss etc backed up by being shown my Facebook photo of my hair 3 yrs ago, and seeing how it is now! Update on my recent zinc bloods going missing
https://healthunlocked.com/thyroiduk/po/how-can-we-trust-the-nhs/responses/130847371 Some of you may remember commenting on my frustration about my zinc bloods going missing, so I thought I would update you following a response from PALS. Apparently, even though I has raised the issue of zinc-specific

Help with iorn levels please!!!
I am hypothyroid and have suffered severe hair loss. I am supplementing b12, zinc, selenium and magnesium as I'm severely deficient. My ferritin level is 127 mg/L- my doctor could not tell me the reference range ( as he could not find it on his computer) but did say it was within the normal range. I

Thyroid Summit - another great video particularly about fibromyalgia and thyroid gland connection.
This is by Dr Teitelbuam who himself suffered problems as a student, and was homeless, finally got himself well. Again about 1 hr long mainly about recovering from fibromyalgia and main symptoms particularly if we have insomnia This is a comment from a person who listened;- Wow! I've had fibromyalgia
