Some good news
I thought I would share a positive story with you all. I finally went to see my new Cardiologist, at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester, on Wednesday. I was very unhappy with the way I was treated during an, unsuccesful, electro cardioversion I received from Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry and asked to

After reading the post by Steve101 on this subject a month ago, I was so intrigued that I decided to seek a medical opinion. Like many people who have had an oesophagectomy, I sometimes suffer from fatigue and a general lack of energy. I forwarded the post to the Chairman of our local Upper GI Network

Not sure about taking iodine
Hi guys, via urine testing it showed I had a iodine deficiency. The result was 88, ranges are 200-2000. I believe all my deficiencies (vitamins and minerals) are a result of untreating hypothyroidism for 6 years. When I discovered the iodine deficiency I talked to my GP and she said she didn't know

Metabolic disorders and nutritional status in autoimmune thyroid diseases
An interesting paper which pulls together several thoughts/ideas about thyroid and diet with a lot of focus on vitamins, coeliac disease and gluten/gliadin, protein and sugars. Quite a lof of confirmation of what has often been posted here. [i]

Can I just buy the vitamins?
Hi there, I have had an under active thyroid for 8 years and am on a really high dose of thyroxine 175mg. To be honest I have never really done much research about the thyroid and just gone with what my dr prescribed me. Mainly I think I feel ok or maybe have just got used to feeling lousy, but I do

Positive news - one less symptom!!
I'd made up my mind that this year a decision had to be made whether or not to continue with my passion for mountain biking due to ongoing shortness of breath. Shortness of breath just happened to be one of the very first symptoms I experienced before knowing I was hypo. Consultation with GP concerning

Have you ever had other vitamins tested such as Vitamin A, Zinc, Magnesium...?
Hi, like most people I have had the usual done: vitamin b12, folate, ferritin and vitamin D. These tests showed that I needed b12 injections, I had vitamin D treatment and I was told my folate and ferritin were in the normal range but were "low normal". I had these done at an endocrinologists and to

recommended blood tests
A nurse rang tonight and has made an appointment to come tomorrow morning first thing and take bloods. I had hoped to have a little more time to make a list and speak to my Doctor but I now need to decide tonight. This is the list I was intending to give the nurse tomorrow . I'd welcome any suggestions
