Ongoing chronic pain
Hi everyone had spinal fusion surgery in 2004 after many many years of intense pain whilst trying to hold down a job in construction . To make it as short as possible I suffered with severe spinal pain for many years it was then decided surgery was needed to stabilise my spine . In my naivety I thought

I am celebrating! The NHS has agreed to fund my final knee replacement!
My local CCG has a policy of not even allowing us to see an Orthopaedic surgeon unless we were the right BMI, let alone having surgery. Without exception. So I have had to fund a hip and a knee replacement myself.OH and I looked it all up- he said there must be a way to appeal. We found one way which

So much better
My journey with PMR is much easier now that I am settled into 5 mgs of prednisone per day. I was not allowed the drug for five months while awaiting bariatric surgery. But now, eight weeks after surgery, I feel that I am nicely settled. I have only occasional tweaks of pain from the PMR and I am losing

Four years on and still feeling 20 years older
Hi, I had my PE four years ago, and was admitted to hospital on the 18/02/15. I had been feeling unwell several months prior with pains in the back/shortness of breath, but put it down to ongoing back issues and the affects of smoking 18-20 cigarettes a day. I was working full-time and travelling up

GCA is vision damage permanent?
Early last fall I had a sudden attack of GCA which resulted in 75%
loss
of
vision
in one eye followed by the second eye a bout 10 days later. GCA was diagnosed one day after my second eye went bad.

Tinnitus/Ginkgo biloba
Visited otorinolarilogos (ear nose and throat specialist) to check my ears and ask about my tinnitus. Ears were clean and uninfected - my hearing levels were a little below average. Anyway he has prescribed Lamberts ginkgo biloba 6000 to take for at least 6 months. Anyone tried this? I'm a bit concerned

It Started With A Prolia Shot
Hi, I am ImmunePoison. I picked that name because it feels like my immune system has been permanently altered by a single shot of the drug, Prolia. I am a retired writer, age 70. When I was 30 I went through weight loss surgery as it was known then as a JI Bypass which makes the small intestine about

to my left ear. I have a loss of concentration at times, expressive aphasia often. What is actually concerning me more at this time are my frequent bouts of illnesses. They seem to be getting worse.

Keto test strips
Hi Following from advice here, I have now cut back my double cream in take and my snacking as well. I've increased my portions on my meals, and not had my strawberries in the morning, and swapped to eggs or nothing. It was also very encouraging watching ITV the diet programme, Save money Lose Weight

Question about “ocular” migraines.
I googled for ocular migraines and discovered what is termed a “retinal” migraine which I discovered can, rarely, cause permanent
loss
of
vision
. Alarmed, I went to see a GP again(a different one) and he , again, seemed unconcerned.

Good voice recognition software is a helpful tool!
I am writing this post with my voice. It feels liberating to do so. One of the areas which Parkinson's disease affects the most is my right hand and my right arm. I am right-handed, so this is a significant handicap. Like many of you, I suffer from micrographia. I also have a hard time typing with

Tampenadol
My pain specialist has suggested trying Tampenadol 50mg twice a day for chronic back and leg pain. I've been on it a couple of days so far it's not been enough to cope with flare up pain during the day so I've had to either use oramorph or tramadol to cope . What doses are people on and how long do
