I have IGA Nephropathy at stage 2 and i was asked by my doctor about my family history and i have found out that my mum had IGA Nephropathy
My mum has now got end stage renal failure and has dialysis three times a week. I was wondering if this was passed onto me or is it just a bit of poor luck. Alos as mum has end stage renal failure is there a chance that this could happen to me.

Tonsillitis and asthma
Hello, My 5 year old has tonsillitis, ear infection, cold and asthma flair up. Seems to get all at the same time, this one is particularly nasty. Does removing tonsils help? So much responsibility with meds etc really feel useless and overwhelmed!

So annoyed!!
Recieved a copy of a letter sent to my gp today from my old rheumie. Apparently I missed my appointment with him (which I cancelled as I am under a new rheumie now). Anyhow the letter said my recent blood tests results (taken in August!) show that I am ANA positive 1:80 (nucleolar) but everything else

COLDSORES in Pregnancy!!!
I have never (and still haven't) had a coldsore on my mouth. I very occasionally (maybe once every year) got what i thought was a minor coldsore spot on the inside of my nose but since getting pregnant I have had TWO. Each time it has been below my nose and disgusting! Having never had a visible coldsore

Has any female with AMN had kidney problems? I was diagnosed with end stage renal failure early this year. Came out of nowhere.
I am 65 and started having AMN symptoms in my early 40's. I was diagnosed in 1998 after my second one week visit to the Mayo, first visit was in 1991 with no diagnosis. Then the very long chain fatty acid link with AMN was discovered and that is how they finally discovered what I have when I went back

Thyroid Hormones Decrease Plasma 1a,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D Levels
Somewhat ironic that we see this very detailed explanation of why "active" vitamin D is low in HYPERthyroid people, while the most common story here is of HYPOthyroid people having low vitamin D! As so often, the work was done in mice. Be good to know if the same is true in humans. [i]Endocrinology

Are there any kidney transplant groups?
Does anyone know if there is any such thing as a transplant meeting group either in person or online where transplant patients who are maybe looking to find a partner can go? When I was on dialysis the thought of finding a partner was far from my mind, but now I have had a transplant I get the feeling

Little boxes on the hillside, little boxes made of ticky-tacky, little boxes all over my dining room floor!
Well I am in a bit of a muddle...in my mind and on a practical level. I have boxes from the loft, some of which are empty ready to go back in the loft, some containing decorations which I can't be bothered to put up, so they need to go back in the loft. This will be a job for my husband, even though

Has anybody else had a sore throat that then results in ulcers on the throat?
Have had this a fair number of times over the past 2 years (only found out recently that it was throat ulcers) always thought it was Tonsilitus and when seeing the docs they said it wasn't but didn't mention it was ulcers - only knew it was once I saw a picture online! Is there anything I should be

Anal Fissures, Swelling and pain. Symptoms of Celiac disease??
Hi Everyone, I've had 3 extremely painful days so far with an anal fissure that is bleeding and burning, and general inflammation and burning pain. THe pain seems to be disproportionate to the problem I have. I've had chronic anal fissures for years, and my rectum prolapsed with all the diarrhea
