back from 1st rheumy appointment
.Well appointment was at 9am and just got home. had a very intense rheumy said probably RA had ultrasound of hands and wrists, xrays of hands, feet and chest, bloods taken for 9 tests and steroid injection. Also asked to take part in some research and I agreed. Not a bad word to say about the experience

intro
Hi all, I was diagnosed on 23rd Oct 2012 after being treated by my GP for PMR for 4 months. I still think I also have PMR as some pains don't fit with RA. Rheumy does not think I have PMR and diagnosed RA. It has took me a while to get my head around it to be honest. I have been put on Methotrexate

Can we ask for steroid injection?
My steroid tablets didn't work and made me feel terrible. Steroid injections work wonders for me. Can I just ask for one? I've tried to see my consultant as an emergency, but can't see him till the end of November! Why can't we get injections off our G. P? Louise xx

A new week
Morning all Today is the first day of a brand new week for my meds. Today I drop from 18mg pred to 15mg, hopefully the steroid injection will counterbalance the drop in tablets. Today I start taking MTX (Methotrexate) in 10mg increasing in 2 weeks to 15mg then another 2 weeks to 20mg. Today the rheumy

Rheumy appointment
Hi everyone Well today I have been to see a rheumy. I did actually see this chap 2yrs ago with my painful hands but got discharged as he could not find anything wrong. He obviously read my notes before I went in as the first thing he said was " I should never have discharged you should I?" He asked

Change of meds - thoughts, experiences please
I finally saw the rheumatologist on Monday (5 month wait! and had to travel to another hospital in the trust to see him!). I had been on Methotrexate injection but stopped 2 weeks ago as I had a few mishaps with the self jabs and just didn't want to take it anymore also due to the nausea, I carried

Please can anyone recommend any pelvic neurologist specialists?? Also have u heard of a MRN Scan available in UK??
Hi, I havent been on here for a while. I am still suffering with excruciating chronic pelvic pain in my right groin area and the pain travels round to my hip. I have had countless tests, X-rays, MRI scans etc all of which have come back clear. My pain consultant is still thinking I have an inflamed Addictor

Has anyone had a spinal fusion - with good results? And how do you get a 2nd opinion?
Hi I was rushed to A&E on the 1st of September - after the weekend had an MRI and discovered I had a large central prolapsed disc (L4/L5 - no exciting war story!). Had been chasing my GP for months with stiffness and sciatica pain but had been brushed off then bam - pure agony. After 3 days the

Cimzia arrived today!
Was very excited - but when I opened the first box I started to feel sick with nerves! I have had to come off of Enbrel as it has stopped working for me (was wonderful for 2.5 years), Enbrel is easy as the injector pen does it all for you. Seeing actual injections is freaking me out, still waiting

HOW LONG DO STERIOD INJECTIONS LAST FOR?
I had a steroid injection in my knee joint and it was amazing it almost instantly took the pain away, then came back for a day or so,and then was very effective for about 4 weeks. While waiting for my Physio it seems to have worn off. ....It was bloomin painful and I thought it would last a bit longer

Doubling the dose of MTX
I was diagnosed a year ago and was prescribed 10 mg of MTX until this week I spoke to my consultant (a new one) and said that my feet and ankles had started to hurt and she examined me and said I need to increase my MTX to 20 mg which is the norm she said, I am not so keen on doubling the dose. She

reduced steroids
My husband has been on monthly steroid injections in an attempt to reduce oral steroids. First 3 months at 80mg, 4th month down to 60mg, and 5th month down to 40mg. As dosage is reduced so does his peak flow (down from 660 to 480). Now unwell with constant cough and production of much mucus. Can you

This may come across as a bit of a moan but I am really running round the circles here. So, any advice is really appreciated. I was not well last week and could not arrange to speak to my GP (this is not a first time this has happened and I am thinking of changing my GP as I should be able to get hold

Seeing the specialist nurse today
Hi all, I've not written much lately as to be honest I've been concentrating on my diet and fitness. I do look in regularly but find I don't really have the concentration to get too involved. I'm thinking this may be down to the methotrexate as I used to like nothing better than a good blog. Anyway today

Can anyone help in dealing with young daughter terrified to go to hospital for her treatment?
Hi I am new to the site & seeking help from parents of children with similar problem. My daughter is 4 3/4 years old been suffering with JRA for 3 years. She has had 5 visits to hospital for steroid injections to ankles and knee so far but the main issue is how traumatised she gets when we are there.
