Versus arthritis leaflet on steroids and PMR
I picked up a leaflet/booklet from Versus Arthritis about Steroid tablets in a hospital the other day and I think it would be useful particularly to those new to PMR/taking steroids. An updated new version is available free to download or you can order a free paper copy from them via their website.

OsteoArthritis v RA
Having had RA diagnosed some 4 years now the majority of my pain is focused on my left knee which I injured in 2017. Recent flaring and RA activity has been largely rooted in that knee and have had three steroid injections since Christmas. The most latest one was in response to searing pain in the knee

long awaited rheumy appointment
nearly a year, then appt just 15 minutes long…was booked as a 45 mins appt. Nobody went in before me, I was only one in waiting room, & I saw him go into his room 5 mins before my appt time. I then waited 35 minutes. He seemed angry because I’d been given a new patient appt when I’d been seen twice before

Pain relief for R.A - alternatives to what I'm using...
Hi there, I've had R.A since last September. I've been on MTX for the last 5 months and it hasn't worked, so I'm waiting to start on Adalimumab which I'm led to believe can take up to 12 weeks to become effective. So far I've had 3 steroid injections, along a 10 week course of Prednisolone to help

Old Knee Injury
5 years ago I sprained my knee and from then on have had swelling and pain….it seemed to trigger my RA. At that time after about 9 months I had an mri which showed a bit of damage and a maniacal tear. The advice then was rest, nsaids etc and things will improve. Then time passes and you get used

Rheumatoid Arthiritis Medication decision help
Hi thank you for letting me join your group and hello everyone. I’m looking for help with a decision on my medication. I had been on methotrexate for a number of years but unfortunately due to infections, I ended up more off it than on it, often having to make the decision myself on whether to take it

Steroid injection relief wearing off
Hey everyone, The relief I’ve felt over the last six weeks since I had a steroid injection is starting to wear off. I’ve had about a 50% reduction in symptoms. I kind of knew it would but I was just thinking wouldn’t it be great if it didn’t, lol. On the plus side, I’m reading this fantastic book

Leflunomide
Last November 2022, after a referral from my GP, to the hospital Rheumatologist, I was given a working diagnosis of Polymyalgia. I had experienced shoulder problems since 2019, and been treated with steroid injections, intensive physio, and Prednisolone, but throughout 2022, things had got really severe

pain killer use with methotrexate
I wonder if anyone can help? I had a flare last week and was told by the nhs to take ibruprofen and paracetamol to help every 4 hours. But I’ve just taken my weekly dose of methotrexate (7 tablets) and wondered if I can take these pain killers on the same day as the methotrexate? When I looked it up

Day unit for steroid injection?
I've just rang the Rheumy nurse to chase up my 'urgent' steroid injection because it's usually them that do it She said that my consultant had asked the Hospital Day Unit to send me an appointment for it. Has anyone ever known this before? I'm very confused.

Update
I had an rheumatologist appointment 8 February which was thorough and resulted in a plan of action. It took until the next morning to process it all but it’s encouraging that action is being taken. My pred was increased to 30 for 2 weeks and then will slowly be reduced. A booster steroid injection that

Consultant rang me
My consultant has just rang me and we had a long chat. She says diarrhea this long after stopping Leflunomide isn't common but yes it can happen. So of course it would happen to me! Story of my life basically. Anyway, I explained about my hands/fingers swollen, my arms not working etc etc and she is

Hashimotos - inflammatory arthritis - hydroxychloroquine
Hi I have Hashimotos and a multitude of other ‘little conditions’ as you’ll all know. My main pain atm is my swollen finger joints. Due partly to covid I just had useless phone consultations with a rheumatologist and his locums. All saying you have osteoarthritis take an aspirin. Then a couple of months

Prednisolone Dependant
Hi Guys, I joined this community because we have a couple of issues going off here. My Wife has had operations for Chrohns . This has left her with a vitamin B12 deficiency, extreme tiredness etc. She was previously prescibed monthly B12 Intramuscular injections. Our GP has changed this to bi-monthly

removal of stitches after bypass
has anyone had stitches removed after a bypass operation? I had a bypass 4 years ago. Had keloid scarring so my go gave me steroid injection along my scar. The skin on my chest is quite thin and the wire used to rewire my sternum is now very visible. I’m worried the wires will break through my skin.

Post RA diagnosis return to Sports or NOT.
I am 51 and had a preliminary RA diagnosis (not 100%) 4 weeks ago and am on Salazopyrin following steroid injection. No significant/ obvious impact of drugs to date on symptoms, but know its early, so just looking for some light at end of tunnel or a reality check. Prior to RA coming on overnight I

anaesthetic for carpal tunnel operation
Hi, my daughter in law has Hashimotos following the birth of her first child 10 years ago. It wasn’t diagnosed until after the birth of her second child 5 years ago, when she was swollen and had gained a lot of weight and her hair was falling out. She’s now lost the weight and is reasonably well, although
