Consultant rang me

My consultant has just rang me and we had a long chat. She says diarrhea this long after stopping Leflunomide isn't common but yes it can happen. So of course it would happen to me! Story of my life basically. Anyway, I explained about my hands/fingers swollen, my arms not working etc etc and she is going to get me in within the next week to have a steroid injection and is looking at starting me on low doses of sulfasalazine and hydroxychloroquine. But if my score when they actually see me f2f is high they may just go onto biologics but she isn't sure about them as heart disease is in my family history. (Dad died at 52).

So at the moment for the first time in months I have a bit of hope. As you know I've been so very low with all of this plus my right hip/leg not working and extremely painful. I'll try anything!

Again I thank you all for being here for me. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hope things go well for you when you meet her f2f. I often wonder where we’ve would be without Hope? Good luck.

I really hope the appointment next week goes really well Haz and the steroid injection gives you some welcome relief. Let's hope that whatever drug you have to take next will be the one you need. 🙏x

I would have thought that the extra risks of cardiac disease from active Rheumatoid Arthritis outweighed the risk from treatment with biological drugs! I would ask the consultant for her reasoning for not giving you biologics on that basis.

She just said she would consider it but at the end of the day would not give me anything that could increase my risk of a stroke or heart attack. I was a smoker too so she said that doesn't help as the damage from that is already done to my arteries. I also have high blood pressure and higher than advised cholesterol but can't take stations. I really do watch my diet though since hubbies heart attack 10 years ago. I'll see what's said when I go in for the appointment.

Everything crossed with hope and prayers thrown in that all goes well, the right combination is found and everything is under control very soon. Best wishes, love and light 🙏
