Coronary vasospasm - palpitations at night
I was put on lots of medication including
statins
, calcium channel blocker, nitrates, aspirin etc. I had been doing well since February with no real symptoms but woke up last night with palpitations that lasted on and off for an hour or so.

Atorvastatin and Abnormal Liver Function Tests
Having tried Atorvastatin at 80mg and then 20mg which worked great for my cholesterol levels but both caused abnormal liver function tests which now following a six week lay off without
statins
have returned to normal.

Statin and liver damage?
I came online to see if anyone had odd liver tests from
statins
. Specifically atorvastatin. I had to go for an abdominal scan today and had a lot of blood tests, I’m on 40 mg of atorvastatin. And have been on them for nearly a year since I found out I had HD and had a stent last summer.

Statins side effects
I've recently been prescribed
statins
which have made the pain a lot worse. My doctor has tried different ones, which hasn't helped. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

Down Day
Having had a clear Coronary Angiogram the Hospital handed me back to the GP instructing them to take me off the beta blockers and
statins
back in Feb. With the additional statement of perhaps consider tests for my esophagus I’m in limbo land.

Should I take BP meds?
Doc also wants me on
statins
. I'd love to have some sort of test to see if my circulatory system was OK.... I would then not worry about my sometimes high bp and overall high cholesterol and feel happier about not taking the doctor's advice. I really hate taking meds.

made symptoms worse? But now I can’t for the life of me find it , any help on this subject would be much appreciated please , TIA

Statins and Serum Gamma GT levels
This result seems to show that
statins
can raise GT levels without actually damaging ones liver, but I am still uncomfortable about it. I would like to hear from anyone who has experince of this or has medical knowledge about this matter.

Dear friends, I have a ‘what would you do’ scenario that I’d really love your help with, please.
More drugs may be needed, such as, controversial,
Statins
to reduce cholesterol and anitvirals to reduce infection due to compromised immune system and even Imodium for diarrhoea, although, I would definitely try Slippery Elm first.

Atorvastatin... problem with nausea etc
I’ve never had issues with
statins
before (I have FH) but I believe this one is playing havoc with my digestive system; I can’t just ignore the sleepless nights, filled with wind and nausea.

Recurring intermittent chest pains after NSTEMI heart attack
I am now on a selection of drugs including antiplatlet, blood pressure,
statins
, beta blockers, and angina drugs. Over the last few months I have had half a dozen chest pain episodes on my left side that appear for several days.

Alternatives to Atorvastatin
My question is, has anyone else suffered this liver issue with their
statins
(I’m told it’s a common side effect) and what alternatives are out there. I’m going to speak to my gp on Monday but forearmed is forewarned, so to speak.

I had been on Ramipril for about 12 years but when my dose was increased slightly my BP dramatically went up rather than becoming lower - 216/110 I have tried various
statins
but all eventually affected my muscles so stopped taking them.

Nephritis as a child
My cholesterol, however, is high but I am reluctant to take
statins
. I tried them when this first started and felt so achy and sluggish I stopped almost straight away. I would be grateful to know if these readings are truly appalling or just marginally rubbish!!

Hi, I wonder if anyone takes
statins
and if they make your IBS worse. My GP wants me to take them but i tried for a week and my tum was really gripey so I stopped them. Do the effects wear off? Otherwise my IBS is more important.

PCa prognosis after initiation of ADT among statin users.
Statins
inhibit the production of cholesterol, which reduces the supply available to PCa cells.
Statins
also inhibit production within cancer cells. So, it's possible that
statins
may delay CRPC & improve survival.
