I had three mild strokes back in July 2020, I was put on blood thinners and statins, someone has told me that statins affect your liver function and cause damage, I have spoken to my GP about this and he rubbished it, but this is the same GP who failed me with not correctly diagnosing my Helicobacter Pylori a few years ago telling me it was my lifestyle that was the cause of the excess stomach acid I was getting. The statins I am on is Atorvastatin, has anybody else got any knowledge of these meds??

There is a difference between a medicines increasing liver function tests, which are enzymes designed to break things down in the body, and damage to the liver. If your strokes are thought to be due to cardiovascular disease, its really important to protect the arteries from more changes. Your GP should be monitoring your response to the cholesterol tablets, and also at the same time can check a liver function.
