I have osteoarthritis mainly affecting my neck and shoulders. I've recently been prescribed statins which have made the pain a lot worse. My doctor has tried different ones, which hasn't helped. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

Statins side effects
I would contact your GP and advise on the problems you are having. There are several different statins available and another may well be better suited to your condition.
Very definitely! Statins magnify the effect of any aches and pains in the body.
I do not have OA but when I first started atorvastatin about 1.5 months ago, it highlighted all the parts of my body which had pain, like a repetitive strain injury in my left shoulder, etc.
Some of the pain points like the ones near the chest, were initially so bad, it actually made me think I was having a heart attack! Incredible if horrible experiences.
I decided to persevere because of the fantastic improvement in my blood test results. The good news, for me at least, is that the pains have largely resolved now that the body is used to the statin. And an added bonus, my memory issues and brain fog from my Graves, have lessened quite significantly.
What is your statin dose?
Hi crochetchica. I have arthritis but not severe at the moment but it has got worse this last year and I have been in statins. I have had uncontrollable diarrhoea and a recent blood test has revealed muscle wastage. I have been told to come if them. I have spent the last year telling anyone who would listen about my symptoms and it’s only now my doctor has acted.
I hope you get some answers to your problem and I wish you all the best. Try getting your doctor to do an enzyme test
