Minireview: The Neural Regulation of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Thyroid Axis
There are many reasons to question the conventional approach to thyroid levels which insists on the central and absolute position of TSH. Thankfully, at least some medical/scientific folk do have an inkling of this and we can sometimes see deeper thoughts. I have always wondered why the thryoid has

Sleep Study Test
On Thursday I underwent a Sleep Study Test at Harefield Hospital. I stayed overnight in a small private room. All it seems to involve is monitoring sat levels overnight. I was just attached to a monitor via a ear clip. I have insomnia (probably connected to my severe COPD) so I only slept for a couple

My lungs today!
Hi everyone, today I had an appointment with the pulmonologist. I have been having some issues lately, and his nurses always take my pulse-ox at rest. Needless to say it is always good then. So I asked for a reading with exertion and we walked about 15 meters and I walked 1/2 of a flight of stairs and

Anti-D
Has anyone diagnosed with PBC ever had anti-D injections after pregnancy or a miscarriage, I was wondering if there could be a connection here?

So tired afraid I'm going to pass right out!
Okay, until I get to the PCP since the rheumatologist found that my anti DNA and thyroid peroxidase to be over 600, he took TSH labs and wants to see me day Aftwr tomorrow. These symptoms have been persisting since the day they started last July 7th. I've not been the same person since and it took them

Some Of The People We've Met...
It goes without saying that we've met some interesting people over the years and most have been during the last eighteen years in Ireland... From Tad, who models himself on Oscar Wilde...down to the hair parted in the middle and the long flowing cloak...to Potty Penny, who informed me she'd fought in

I was looking into a few of my own symptoms past and current that are tbh odd. At the time of my illness being very serious the medics were and have been unable to give a diagnosis of the involuntary muscle spasms and twitches I had and still do to a lesser degre. I've never heard of the following has

Health Check: here’s what you need to know about sleep apnoea

PD. Sleep Issues - Any Advise
Hi. I was diagnosed with PD in June 2012 I am currently on 100/25 Co-careldopa, x3 per day, 2.62mg Mirapexin & 10mg Seligiline. My issues are that I am constantly tired. I tend to grab 4-5 hours sleep at night but wake at around 0400. I'm struggling to stay awake at work throughout the day at the computer

Fibro and Sleep Apnea
I'm just curious about sleep apnea being connected to or related to fibromyalgia. I don't know if I have it, but according to my friends, I'm showing symptoms of sleep apnea on top of already having fibromyalgia and endometriosis. I often wake up with shortness of breath, feeling like my heart is racing

My Managed Care
Here is an example of my managed care: When I'm stressed or anxious, doctors tell me to take Xanax or Klonopin, friends tell me to drink beer, wine, or smoke weed. When I'm depressed or depleted of energy, doctors tell me to take anti-depressants, Ritalin or Adderall, friends tell me to drink coffee

OSA problem using a CPAP
HI, I was diagnosed a year or so ago with OSA at Papworth Hospital. I was given a CPAP machine with a mouth mask as I tend to be a mouth breather whilst asleep. Snoring loudly is a problem too. I don't have a severe problem, but enough to warrant a machine. I have had various masks to try, and have had
