SIBO TEST
Has anyone any experience/results of a small intestine bacterial overgrowth (
SIBO
) breath test. First heard about it on TVs Dr Chatterjee Doctor in the House programme. Seen an NHS gastroenterologist this week and now waiting for the test kit to arrive. My GP had never heard if it.

When I bring up my suspicions of
SIBO
the doctor asks me why I think I have that. I also found my underwear and leggings to be smelly since my youngest daughter was born nearly three years ago and when I stopped taking levo the smell went away!

Setting surgery precedents for treatment: should you tell your GP if you are self-injecting ?
MMA levels remain stubbornly raised- so being sent to check for
SIBO
(small intestine bacterial overgrowth). Folate level is 9.9 ug/L though- and I read that these bacteria create their own folate which ends up in the bloodstream and so would have expected a higher result (?)

IBS or SIBO
I started to listen to all the health podcasts and have a feeling it might be
Sibo
cause I have all the symptoms. I haven't tested yet but I am pretty sure. Anyone have similar situation who took herbal antibiotics to cure
Sibo
? I really don't want to go with conventional antibiotics anymore.

Don't want anti-depressants (Amitryptilene), pain-killers (Amitryptilene) or counselling: just want a diagnosis
And perhaps
SIBO
. Maybe even brain lesions, who knows? Osteoporosis nurse said I should not be in daily pain with hip and back and to see GP, but GP says a certain amount of pain is to be expected. Left in tears.

Haematology done with me: what next? Confused.
Said I don't have Functional B12 deficiency (previous diagnosis) and now believes that MMA problem is due to Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (
SIBO
), so is sending me for a breath test ( October date ).

Low normal blood pressure now raised
I am not diabetic but it looks as though I have
SIBO
, although this is yet to be confirmed. I have never exhibited clear signs of megaloblastic anaemia thought to be because folate was also lower end of normal. Has anyone any thoughts about what might be going on?

Solutions for restless leg symptoms
I believe patients are partners with their physicians regarding treatment and not just passive recipients of medical advice to be followed blindly. My major interest at this time is the possible connection between rls and
SIBO
( small intestine bacterial overgrowth).

SIBO recognised at last
I live in Portsmouth, so for the others reading this blog, you will be encouraged to know that there is a gastroenterologist who recognises
SiBO
working in this area. So do not give up!

My Experience
I have gone through the full list and it now appears that mine is caused by
SIBO
but I am still waiting the tests but symptomology indicates it is
SIBO
. It has taken me 18 months to get to this point, battling all the way and conversations with the fantastic Martyn.
