Pain & injuries!
I'm feeling disappointed because I am having a slow start due to hip pains and
shin
splints
, the
shin
splints
I'm not too worried about as it's seems generally something that happens in the beginning and once the trainers, stretches and rests are sorted it can be overcome.

Has anyone had to be tested for Lyme Disease
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone had been tested for Lyme. My daughter has been diagnosed with Chronic Pain, she's had her knees injected (bad reaction to that) and has many Lyme symptoms which mimic other diseases apparantly. I don't recall her ever being bitten by a tick, however we do live in

I felt that buzz after running!
I had no problems with the hips, or the
shin
splints
but I had a very tight right calf muscle that got worst towards the end. I did my cool down, then 10-15mins cool down with Davina (lots of stretches) and by the time I had finished the pain had gone!!! So I actually felt fantastic afterwards.

I suffered from
shin
splints
and hobbled for a little bit but that night, I got home and ordered some proper running shoes (Nike Dart 9 if you're interested, £35ish on sportsdirect). Trainers arrived on Tuesday so R2 was on and it was more of a success.

Run or rest?
Felt great afterwards, then a few hours later got pain in my knees which I still have but not so bad, but today I started getting pain in one thigh and what i think is
shin
splints
in both legs. I'm going to cancel tomorrow's run, but was thinking of doing it on tuesday if pain has gone.

Another operation
Some of you might remember I had a wrist synovectomy about a month ago - the aim was to tidy up the joint, shave down the ulna bone and try to protect my tendons. It all seemed to go really well, my recovery appeared to be pretty good and I'd gone back to work after a month off and started driving

Aaarrggghh Shin splints again! Is it only me that gets them??
The only problem is that I have got
shin
splints
again, I say again because every time I try to start running I get them, then give up. This time, I thought that doing it the sensible way, with a proper program I can take it easy and it'll be fine.....wrong!

Shin splints
I'm convinced I've got
shin
splints
(on wk 2 run 1). Pain is very bad not just a cramp and not improving during rest periods. Have read that you should rest for 2 weeks and not run through the pain... I do not want to stop (just in case I don't start again).

Unhappy runner!
Wk 1 went fine .... towards the end suffering from
shin
splints
. Rested for a week, bought myself some new trainers, and started wk 2 run 1 yesterday. Only managed to do 1 1/2 runs and had to walk the rest of the way - the pain was that bad. I'm beginning to feel like a complete failure.

There's no shame in repeating a week...
I originaly started the C25K programme a few weeks ago but when I got to wk3 I developed
shin
splints
so I had to take 2 weeks off.

But on the positive side no
shin
splints
, have tried to run many times before with various learn to run programmes, but always ended up frustrated having to look at my watch and forgetting which run I'm on or getting bored and doing my own thing - then getting

W1R2 due today, but still very sore- should I attempt it?
I've suffered from
shin
splints
in the past. Should I attempt run two today? Or should I try it tomorrow?

Do you have problems healing?
I had a skin graft in January due to a malignant melanoma (possibly linked to MMF) and the donor site is refusing to heal. I am 8 weeks post op and the nurses in the plastics clinic have tried everything they can think of. Does anyone have any suggestions please? I am fed up with having a dressing

Completed second run of week 4 yesterday but shins are really sore today and have been having some knee pain.
I haven't been going fast, have invested in good running shoes so any tips for when I can get back to it to avoid
shin
splints
again :0(

Wk5, run1 complete
Still have to conciously relax my legs and hips - I seem to do this mad thing of going tight / stiff and then the
shin
splints
threaten. Made it through with a feeling that I could have gone on a bit longer so hopefully that will play out ok on Monday's run!

First run for a long time!
I've suffered from
shin
splints
for the last 6 months or so, so I was apprehensive about starting running. I didn't have any pain at all during the run! All of yesterday the pain in the top part of my foot where it connects to my shin was getting worse.
